My brother was able to buy my nephew Tyler a 74 blazer. It was listed on Craig's list for a while but nobody could get ahold of the seller. A friend of ours was able to contact the guy and buy it for us for $1650.
The blazer has a 95 454 tbi, 4L80e, NP205, 14bff with a Detroit, and a dana 44 with 4.56 gears. We didnt like it came with 40" Boggers and a 10" suspension lift. The drive train a bonus but my brother wanted 6 lug so they could switch wheels with me, so we sold the axles, tire, and lift. We also sold the tbi setup because we are going to hot rod this thing. I know this may sound like a downgrade to most of you guys, but we're not big fans of big lift and big tires. The axles could have been kept, but there is no practical way to convert the 14bff into 6 lug plus to regear the axle for 33" tires.
So, after all the stuff we sold off this beast, we were able to break even, and we still have the motor, tranny, transfer case and the blazer. Now we are using the money we were going to use to buy the blazer to buy axles, tires, and wheels of we want.
I bought 74chevy454 old drive train from his blazer and we put the axles under Tyler's blazer with a 4" lift kit. My bother just bought another set of slot mags, and making payments for a used set Fun Countrys. I got another TH400 and we are going to use in place of the 4L80e since we need a computer for it. I'm going to use the 4L80e for another project. I have a Performer RPM quadajet intake, a Quadajet, and a HEI.
This thing is going to be a clone of my blazer at some point.
Now on to the pics.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You guys out west suck, with your cheap rust free rigs. That is a clean looking truck.

wow for i already have 3 trucks and for that price i would have bought it for the heck of it

I noticed in the first picture dad looked happier then the son did
but in the last picture I noticed why, you should have left it alone, it was sweet!!
I just paid 3g for something that looked no wheres near as nice as that

Huge lift and 40" Boggers don't do so well out in the dunes so for where they play it makes sense to drop it down... swapping axles is a toss up since out in the sand even with a lot of power it's still relatively easy on drivetrain parts and this way they can all swap wheels/tires between whatever truck is running that particular weekend ;)

And another good build bites the dust...is his name really Tlyer or was that just a multiple typo?

My nephew was just embarrass having his picture taken with his dad. He is like that all the time. People who have met my brother and me know my brother does all the talking. I just stand to side being quiet.
Heck, Tyler was the one who found the blazer on Craig’s List and bugging us to get the thing and he wants to use my rims with paddles. He really likes my blazer and he wants to a clone it. We know he is going to blow the rear end up at some time, but it is something to get started on till we can afford a semi float Dana 60 or a Ford 9".
As for getting it going for the end of the month? I doubt it. We have lots of other things to do before we can work on this. He already wants us to buy him a Holly Strip dominator and a 4150 and put my old heads and cam on this thing. Putting the stuff I already have will be the cheapest and quickest way to get the blazer going.
The boy has no concept of money and getting a blazer for nearly free don't help.

Oops. Multiple typos.

Oops, didn't see the part about running it in the dunes. Either way, it's a sweet lookin rig. Nice find!

That thing looked really bitchin in the before pic, I personally would have left it alone. But of course, my opinion doesn't mean squat because it's not my truck:D. That's OK, smaller Blazers can be really cool too:wink1:

the whole reason we lowered it down was for having 600 hp and making quick turns a ten inch lift doesn't really work and the suspension geometry for sand dragging is the closer to stock height the better i dont even think they can build a set of functional cal tracs for a ten inch lift-tyler

Very nice find. The fact that it was short money is a huge bonus! It's all about what you want....

thats a freakin sweet blazer aroud here ud never find a full convert. that isnt all rusted out.

is he gone DD the k5 or just use it to play in the dunes?

Out of curiosity how is the engine and tranny being controlled? I'd love to have the kind of power and reliability from my k3500 into my k10. Is it a stand alone computer for the engine and another for the 4L80E?

There were two computers, one for the engine and one for the transmission, and the computers were connected together.
To get the transmission to work by itself, I need a stand alone computer. Most computers are after market, and there is one factory stand alone computer which came with diesels.
