My new \"blingin\" 14b shatfs...lol
Chucked'em up on the lathe at work today and gave'em the bling treament. hehe After grinding the big ass knob off the end, only ended up removing about .040 from the mounting surface and .020 from the outter edge. Some new grade 8 bolts should make it look pretty cool. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif
One thing I noticed while doing this, 14b shafts are NOT straight and true at all. With the lathes jaws right about in the middle of the long side shaft, and the flange end supported by the spinner thing mounted to the bed, I went and looked through the other end of the lathe at the splined end of the shaft as it was spinning. I could not believe how much it wobbled. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It was this way with both shafts, no matter where the shaft was located in the lathe. Just for shits and giggles, I'm gonna do the same to the other set of shafts I have and see if they wobble too. Should be interesting. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
