Hey guys watcha think? I finally got my 203/205 in and have a crossmember all mocked up. With everything up under my truck the lowest point lower than the frame was about 1 1/2 so I just used 2" square tubing and I am gonna plate the whole underside of it. Should I use 1/8'' or 3/16" plate? I am going to mount it with a stock tranny mount under the tranny/tcase adampter and just some rubber mounts on the doubler plate.

Looks good. I am planning on using 3/16 on the majority opinion that I have read from others on here and pirate. How are you planning on mounting the big skid plate?

I am just going to weld the big skid plate to the crossmember unit and bolt the unit to the frame. That way there aren't any bolts underneath to catch on anything and it will all come out in one piece. One very heavy piece!

Are you sure thats best? Think about when you want to drop it. How are you going to get a jack under the tcases to then take the skid off? Thats going to be one hell of a task. I would think about counter sunk allen head bolts. So you can get in there to do the little things and there will be those times.

Not a bad idea. I have been thinking about this ever since you asked and another problem I would have is trying to hold the nuts for the tranny mount. I am taking your advise! Thanks!

Anyone else have any suggestions on the execution of this???

You could bend the plate on each side and run bolts through it horizontally. Nothing under it and fairly easy to get wrenches to.
