Some more work
Man, I've been so lazy, and busy... but here are some shots from last week. Of course, its an ever learning experience for me, so here are some news shots
I really should have trimmed more the first time around- I was trying to preserve as much metal as possible, not realizing that a lot of areas were extremely thin already. So out goes the whole damn section.
Treating the damn rust in the upper areas which are a bitch to get to. I sanded as much as I could, cleaned it with brake cleaner, and treated it with rust converter. SEems to hold, Im going to top it with POR15.
Finally, a pic to show you why you should always wear a dust mask of some sort. I use a n95 particulate mask, You can use something more advanced if you want, but it works for me.
I was cutting and grinding away, and noticed it was a bit "cloudy" in my garage. I thought it was just dust on my glasses.
I had made a poor man's air filter. Especially in winter, its hard to keep the air circulating and clean and still stay warm. I keep this nearby when Im grinding/cutting to keep the dust down. I turned this on AFTER (which Im usually good about, but).. and in 5 minutes, this is what it looks like. Notice the edges.
