Update! New Grill trim and my crumbling core support...

Ok so after almost a year I finally installed the new grill trim! I think it looks pretty good:

Ok now for some bad news...

My reproduction radiator core support is at this point is about a year old. And the thing is falling apart. Its a piece of crap! I wanted to save a few $$ so I got this one from Classic Industries. The general alignment and tooling of it was ok... but at this point its almost as bad as the original core support that was 30 years are falling apart only due to rust not ****ty thin sheet metal. So now I am in the market for a new core support preferably an original with little to now rust. Anyway I think the pictures can explain it better than I can...

Thankfully this was the only piece that I ordered from Classic Industries... :surepal:

What do you guys think of painting the bowtie in the grill black?

Hey there,

Try this link if you want a GM radiator support. (I think that is the correct one for your truck...I would encourage you to double check me on that though.)

Strangely enough, they apparently still take orders for the radiator support for a '74 Blazer too...at least they did for mine!

Thanks for the link! How much did you pay for your new core support plus shipping? Also I think the one you linked to is for a 70's style front end...

http://www.motorplace.com/flow-pcx/parts_details.cgi part number: 15606587

Now their telling me that the part is unavailable or discontinued... :surepal:

Damn...yeah...it pulled the wrong number up. Sometimes the GM Parts Direct website is a little wierd. If I searched for parts for the pickup, I didn't get any results for the collision stuff. If I said I had an 85 Blazer (same radiator support), it actually lists 5 different core supports, including the 70's style for some reason. Yeah...the one you need isn't available. It shows up, but they won't let you order it. :(

Nice

Wow, That truck turned out real good. Hopefully mine will look that good when I get done with the body work and Paint.. Good Job!!:waytogo:

truck looks great, but the black trim around the grill looks out of place. it should be chrome.

i was just about to comment on the trim around the grille. i like it personally. different in my opinion. nice truck BTW here's what i'll be starting on this winter

nice. Is that a SM465 I see on the ground there? Also on the bed fenders you see how its red, that is a special edition stepside bed. go to 73-87.com to learn more...

As far as the trim goes, it would look more complete if the "bowtie" was black. I need a new grill as it is anyway.

yeah it's a 465. i got it for free from my boss. it's been sittting there for a while i need to put it up somewhere. that's a 203 transfer right next to it

best part of this truck is it came with alot of new parts that you just bought for yours. all for $800. thanks for the link BTW

Nice truck, and Poser pics:waytogo::D .

I like the trim around the grille i dont chrome would look good againts the white. Just my .2 cents
