The radiator support is in pretty good shape, but still needed some cleaning before going to powder coating. He had tried Evapo-rust on some parts already.
We got to thinking about how to get in deep between the panels, so we made a 'tank' out of 2x6 lumber. The one picture is after the first 24 hour soak.

Then after the 2nd soak, it went for powder coating.
It works very well! He wanted to dip the bottom of the cab, but we did some quick math, and buying that much of the stuff would be a shit load! We have used it on lots of smaller parts too.
He sent me this picture, I had forgotten how he hauled the frame to powder coating, my now deceased K30.
Enjoying this build, I have a soft spot for these trucks.

My son is doing a great job, in my eyes. I am hoping that he doesn't lose his passion for it with all that he has taken on. I am trying to let him do what and how he wants on most of it, but I try to help some without trying to take over. It's hard to be the assistant sometimes.
I like these old trucks too. Three '72s around here, my '70 and Dad still has the '69 396 C10 just 2 doors down from us.

Well since it had no options really, it needed some work on a few things, and I found an ugly old '95 with a 350 and NV4500. I parted the '79. I hated to, but I wanted more out of my beater truck. The time and money to put TBI, 5 speed, A/C , and all of the other little things was not feasible.
I had about $1700 in the '79 total in 6 years of use, and made money when I killed it.

Not really anything going on. Senior year of high school with a college math course kicking his butt. College orientation and prom were yesterday. He's moving slowly today after being out late.
And he didn't take one of my trucks to prom because he didn't want to leave one parked where they were holding it.

So I have some progress that I believe a lot of you will appreciate the effort!
He now has stainless fuel lines that are almost finished. They will go from the tank connecting hoses to the pump hoses in 1 piece! !!!
It took a lot of patience to get it done!

Just a couple of shots of stainless. There is a lot going on in the right front between front right brake line, rear brake line and the 2 fuel lines.
He left the 2 hose connections to the pump spread apart until the hoses are on.

Well it has been way too long for posting progress, but he had bought trans cooler lines from Inline Tube. I had the idea from looking at my '72 C10 that we could make them work. I was wrong again....
Well he decided to make the lower line from scratch. The one that goes from the upper port on the trans to the bottom of the radiator cooler. So after waiting for more tubing to show up, here are the results. The lines have to cross somewhere to put the oil output to the bottom of the cooler, so he did it at the bellhousing .
It took some work, but it only needs a clamp by the oil pan.

I forgot to mention that he painted the radiator with Eastwood's radiator paint.
It is supposed to be thinner than regular paint. I think that it came out well.
I did tell him not to concentrate too much on the back side that will be hidden by the fan and shroud.

Looks great, how did he like the radiator paint? I would like to clean mine up as well.
