My Suzuki samurai "situation"

Well...I don't have a Sami so I might not have it correct...

...but I think the Sami thirds are stronger than the Track/Kick aluminum thirds. I've noticed more Sami guys will regear their t-case than the diffs.

With the 31's and the high range reduction you might consider 4.62's. They'd be easier to find as that's the ratio the auto equipped Kick/Tracker guys are getting rid of to run 5.12's for their big tires.

I don't by any means have all the answers either. Just learning about the zukis as I go.

Yep, sami thirds are reportedly stronger. Been talking to a guy on pirate about the 5.12 ring and pinions to go in my thirds. Have to get some install kits but cheapest route. That'll take care of me for a while. Somewhere down the road I'll go to a 33" tire and do the t case gears at that time.

I think you can gear pretty low and be all right. Mine has a 5 speed and I can't get into 5th gear at all. 4th is on flats or down hills only. 31's now.

You won't need an install kit for the 5.13s Kert just put a tack weld on the cross pin, of course they are so cheap why not?

One of the reasons sami guys gear the t-case is cause the gearsets are so cheap and samis run a reduction in high and low range, so you get an awesome crawl ratio and a little bit better gearing for the highway.

I unplugged my little computer thing on my zuk and nothing changed at all not gas mileage not power not anything, that was with the stock carb with alot of stuff removed on it.

I found a weber in a wrecking yard for 30 bucks bought the kit to put it on my zuk from weber (through NAPA) for 30 bucks and a rebuild kit for 20 bucks. If you do a weber put it on backwards you will need to do a little grinding on the intake manifold but it will stall going downhill and not going up hill.

Most of the wiring and vaucum lines on the carb have to do with emmisions, When you are in 5th gear there is actaully a switch that turns most of them off. In all honosty you can remove most of them. Theres a couple you need to keep but its been so long I don't remember which ones.

A 1.3 can make power but you have to work at it a bit. I had a 4-1 t case 5.38 gears a 1.3 with a calmini midrange cam a header nice exhaust weber carb some really mild porting on the head and an aftermarket (Jacobs) ignition. Was running 33" SSRs at the time and on flat ground I could do 75 easy even with a bit of a wind. I was limited by rpm though at 75 I was at nearly 4800 rpm if I remember right I put 50k miles on my little zuk with this combo and never had a problem getting 20 mpg all the time (freeway in town it didn't matter I got 20mpg)
