My TBI computer chip programing thread/adventure.

Ended up out of town all darn weekend! Might have time to run it tonight.and make some adjustments but we'll see. Having din din right now.

Here is what i got so far. Still not running quite right. Feels like its running "rougher". But my BLMs are finally around 128 at least...

What i dont understand is how i have taken away about 80% of my fuel and still have it smell rich and even still get a rich flag in winaldl...I think this is going to be a long road.

couple logs with the adjustments from last night.

Post a picture of your BLM table history avearge! Idle and driving and WOT.

I've never seen VE that low at idle... triple that on a bigger cam is still low... let me see your BLM? You got good fresh gas in this? Don't tell me it's a half tank of year old ethenol mix... if it is Go fill it up with fresh gas, get BLMs again...

Well, i cant really drive the truck much at all. Its got 4 year old tags on it and no insurance. So i figured i could just fix up my idle and once im satisfied with that, then i can go about getting it re-registered and all that junk. Come to think of it, the gas is really old... In fact, i think it might even be from over a year ago! Yea it has to be. Last time i filled it up was when i brought it home from the cabin i think and that was like may of last year i think? Interesting. I dont know why that never really registered to me. I guess cause i have smelt old gas and it has a distinct turpentine smell to it and mine hasn't smelt that way to me. None the less, i am getting down to about an 8th of tank and am due for some fresh gas anyway. I'll run to the gas station and get 10 gallons or so and see what that does. I dont quite know how to get excel to average the blms out on my loggs. but my most recent one seems to be running around the 120s or so. So thats what is starting to throw me for a loop is that i have taken away such a huge amount of fuel and it still seems to want less... I guess that maybe the old gas could be affecting that tho? I dunno. I think im going to mot mess with it until i get some fresh gas in it and start over.

Just forget the old data, 10 gallons of fresh gas on an 1/8th tank and a can of heat to help with moisture, even injector cleaner. Run engine till warm, rev to 2000 RPM for a few minutes. Change fuel filter. Now start to record data and tune!!! :D

Sorry, done that, been there. I just saved you 20 hours of nonsense tuning!

I think i have all but maxed out my brain studying tonight... I know way more then i thought i would ever want to know! But, now i have started reading about o2 sensor rich/lean and mean thresholds as well as commanded AFR's and how they relate to eachother during both open and closed loop. Going to do yet even more reading up on it tomorrow but i think i may be on to something with it. To go along with everything else of course.

Here is where i STARTED reading and read all the threads/links associated with it!

Will the can of heat affect the o2 readings?
Never has for me? All it is is rubbing alcohol, at truck stops you will always find rubbing alcohol in huge size comprared to small size heat. The alcohol will find moisture/water and mix with it, then gas. I did it in a glass on bench.

Excellent soure of learning and linked form everywhere because of it!

Here is a bucnh of tables for myself for future reference.
Rule for begineers, make one change at a time. Get your fueling/BLM close everywhere first! Because all the other stuff is based off that! So making a change elsewhere before blms are close is worthless.

Half that stuff you have open will not need touched!

I'll wait until tomorrow when i get some fresh gas to try again. Im going to start again from the stock bin. Sense my problem is really only at idle, im going to again try just removing 20% of the fuel in the main VE table and add 20%timing in the main spark table at idle conditions and see what that gets me. If it is closer, im going to give the o2 threasholds a shot just to see what they do. Worst case, i can always start back from stock!

Alright, erase erase erase. More and more searching has shown me what i already knew but never clicked! So probabably, for now, dont dick with the timing, force OL at least at idle, pull fuel out as required to get it running right, THEN add closed loop back into the mix and adjust the R/L/M threasholds if the o2 throws me back out of whack? Sounds good ya?

That's what I would do except no timing right now. Just take 20% out of first 2-3 lines and 2-3-4- columns. This covers all idle. If bettter try 2 degrees up on timing. Did it help? Loose some more VE at idle after looking at BLM reading in TunerPro, with or without O2 forced open. I don't think your cam is going to be that bad to force open loop idle, when you get the VE close it will run open/closed loop when it needs to.
