My TBI swap is complete but only starts when primed ***UPDATED***

I made my own cable in about 15 minutes. Seems like it cost around $10 for all the parts. It's really no trouble at all. Worst part was having to go get the transistor. All you gotta do is get the diode (he gives you the numbers), a couple of resistors, a serial plug, some wire, and solder it together...

Oh, and the program is super easy to use. It's understanding the data that is confusing to start with. The book I recommended will tell you what all those values are and what acceptable ranges to look for...

Ok, I looked at the page again and read all the suff on how to make one but I don't know what any of the diagrams mean.

The first diagram is just a standard wiring diagram showing the connections. The second shows the same thing but in a more picture oriented drawing that should be easier to understand. It shows where the wires go in the plugs and such, it also give part numbers. That is the most useful for you. The resisters are just wired "in line" and the transistor has 3 connections connected as shown. The transistor will have a "map" of the connections (by name, as in the diagram) so you know which connector gets connected to which wire or resistor. If that doesn’t make sense then it’s probably time to ask some of your friends/family for help. Shouldn’t be hard to find someone who can implement it…

Oh, each one of the resistors is indicated by the zig-zag with an “R?” beside it (R1, R2, etc.) along with it’s resistance value in kilo-ohms (1000s of ohms). The transistor is the funny circular thing with 3 connections and a couple of suggested part numbers are listed on the second diagram.

I've done much more complicated cables, this one is a breeze.
If you made a swap, you can make the cable.
Always tell yourself that if someone can make it I can, things always seem harder when you didn't attempt them yet, once you start it's real easy. Did you ever think how hard it would be to adjust a carb or change spark plugs or do the timing?
Baby steps, soon you can take over the world. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
