Wow, where did that come from?

from my wallet. i wanna wheel the truck NOW, and dont have a lot of money to throw around. Tim talked me into keeping the 60, and i have a driveshaft that will work with 6" springs, a D60, and my 465/205 (actually its the one he ran in his truck, pre HAD). that will save me quite a bit with not having to buy a driveshaft immediately.

The 52's handle pretty good. I think my truck will spin out before it tips over, but I havent tested it that hard in a corner, yet. I do drive in the twisty mountain roads a lot and I can haul ass around the corners with those front shocks, the only thing stopping me from going faster is my rear suspension, lack of air bumps up front and uber sloppy steering.

Hell, my blazer was my DD up until last september, I had a new Cobalt SS on order cause I wanted a fast car to drive around. But saw a nice 2003 Silverado 2500HD that got traded in for about 3k less than the Cobalt was gonna cost me and went with that. So at least now I got a tow rig, just cant find a used trailer like I want in So Cal. I was getting sick of asking my dad if I could borrow one of his cars when I needed to work on the Blazer, or when it was broken. Plus it sucked when the gf and I had to go somewhere on the freeway, its sooooooooooooooo loud inside of my blazer on the freeway. Damn 2 chamber flowmaster, and custom exhaust.

i may be a jackass but building a nice rig nice paint etc. then making it more than capable offroad locker, flexy suspension etc. then smashing it doesn't make alot of sense! i see alot of rigs on here that were nice bodywise. now they are rough in the body but tough looking cause they can go anywhere! thats why i picked up a $500 rig that i knows gonna get smashed thats all i was implying:D

Hey jackass,

Didn't I talk you out of bashing your rig?

so what are your plans for a frame now?
New tube frame or beef up a stock frame?
Do you have pics of the issues your having?:ears:

i have 64 inch springs in the rear. 52 up front sound like they would run good with the rears. one day i'll give it a try.:saweet:

Yeah I remember that trip out. That was the first trip I really bashed it. Oh well, it happens. If those damn mall terrains actually worked I dont think I would have had that problem.

i havent had any body damage on the trails but i did let someone else drive my 72 k5 once and they crushed the rear pass quarter slideing off a snowy road but like most my blazer is been built with body damage in mind i just choose to finess it though the tough sections and keep the panels straight as long as i can

As of right now the rear suspension is a crappy 6" lift springs thats sagged a few inches. They flex kinda ok, but ride like crap. Its getting 63's in the back, if I decide to take my blazer to TDS in March im gonna try and get the 63's on the back before then.

The frame is just all twisted. I think the rivets have loosened up and its bent in a couple spots. Ive been rear ended once, numerous wheeling trips, when my K5 was my DD I was always flexing it out showing off. Then its broke, and bent pretty good around the t-case from when i dropped a front d-shaft on the street and busted my t-case apart. The steering box area is also completely trashed. It broke, then i welded it up and put the patch kit on it, and then it broke again, so I dunno what the hell is goin on there.

So now we will be talking 2 years. Any complaints?
About body roll, no worries it just means it 's working for what we wanted it to do.

I'm going on a year with my 52's now, and I can say my only mistakes in doing so is getting the lighter-duty spring pack from JCW when I bought them, and not using bump-stops. I figured "Lighter duty=lower spring rate=more flex" However true, a big heavy truck like this + big heavy tube bumpers + a big heavy 8274 winch + 1000 miles on a trailer, a half dozen trail rides, and 40 miles of death wobble turned several of the leaves into big fat "W"s

I've since rebuilt the spring packs and replaced the W'd leaves with heavier leaves and will keep everyone posted after my Memorial Day trail ride.

The best way I've seen to avoid leaf damage is to clamp the main, and second leaf, (at the ends, near the eyes) and leave the rest of the pack unclamped. You can leave the factory clamps, (further in on the packs) just remove the pin that runs across the top. That pin will bend the leaves with the additional flex that the 52's offer. The sides of the factory clamps will help keep the leaves from fanning, but not allow the droop to bend them.

I dont know...I gotta say I like your blazer more with the fender dents. Doesnt look like a poser, looks like a Man's vehicle :D

Suprised you havent talked your dad into giving you that H2 ;)

I ended up putting 63's out back with some hoops through the bed, worked ok, but it still wasnt good enough. I wheeled the hell out of my blazer and did some bad damage to it and got pissed and parked it, I did take it out over 4th of july last year and broke the t-case, I ran into a log that I couldn't see and bent the frame and bottomed out the front shaft hard enough to put a hair line crack in the t-case, so its been parked ever since.

I did end up taking it over to the body shop, they are fixing a broken door hinge for me at the moment and its gonna go in the garage and get turned back into my poser truck. Im thinking escalade 6.0L with a 4L80E, linked front suspension with some Deavers out back and a custom 609 front axle. Im gonna set it up for haulin ass in the rough stuff and DDin it with some mild wheelin. I have the samurai now for rock crawling and it works better than a blazer ever could for what I do.

But as for the 52's, I liked em, I would've done a few things different such as the bushings but I will rehash the whole suspension when I build my new frame. I never did have a problem with body roll, I could spin the truck out on pavement before it got tippy, but the front shocks did help, I still think if you want these springs to work right you need a high quality nitrogen charged shock, other than that they are too mushy.

Oh and my dad got rid of that H2, he's had quite a few cars between then, now he has an '07 tahoe and a crew cab duramax.
