My time to cry! bad garage fire

Insurance guy comes over today. The cause was an amber from my wood stove. I had a small fire going in my wood stove, burning off some small limbs from the tree we cut down last fall. they figure a hot amber got into the rafters or the eve's and started it. it was totally up in flames in 5 min. I tried to get to the dump truck when there was only smoke coming out of the garage, but it was WAY to hot. I will most likely take a major loss on all 3 vehicle's. Tools and contents of garage unknown at this time.

A friend of mine has an 88 blazer he was using for parts. I might be able to scavange enough of that to rebuild the body on my big truck. I got to pull the engine and see how bad that got it. The aluminum valve covers melted!! I know they shot the hose right into the engine. The frame/axels/tranny and the main body looks reuseable. The dump truck is a total loss. As is the camaro. the dump has a D60/14bolt w/4.10's, 350/400/205 fixed yoke. taking offers on the WHOLE truck. I got NO tools to part it up!!

Damn man that sucks, anychance on getting insurance to cover your tools and stuff

The insurance will cover the Garage for 13,700. I have to itemize the contents and argue their value. None of the automotive parts are covered.

Really sorry to hear about your loss.

So house insurance is covering the structure and contents minus the vehicles? What about you car insurance?

Good luck, and as I said, sorry for your loss, and thank goodness it was the garage and not your home!

The Camaro and the big truck were Not insured. I couldn't get them insured. the camaro had no "value" and the blazer was to modified to be insured!

OMG! Just found this "old" thread...

Oysh... just read this sad disaster.

I live in a tight neighborhood, and worry about other houses only inches away. Either my fault or theirs...
Have you been able to round up some tools? Taking donations? I just bought a box of hand tool stuff I can send you. I'm in Plattsburgh, You??? Andrew

so so sorry to here that, man that is terrible :(:(:(

#1 Note to self...go home tonight and look for fire hazards in garage...:eek1:

#2 Man, that has to suck,,, Is there anything we can do to help you out ??

I'm in Schenectady, just outside albany. I am STILL dealing with this mess. out of the 14,000 tool claim, the insurance co sent me 6,000. I have FULL replacement on my policy, but you only get that AFTER you replace your stuff!! I FINALLY got a building permit, and am starting to rebuild. excavating today and next weekend, hope to pur foundation in 2 weeks. I had a 20x20 garage, but am building a 24x28. I am short on what this garage is gonna cost to build. I am doing as much as I can myself. There isn't much I can get help with. I have a contractor/buddy helping me and My cuz does pools so he's helping with the excavating. Tools I will replace in time.

Holy **** that sucks

How did it happen?
