my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

a chevy luv would be pretty cool.. something new and exciting. what drivetrain do you plan on running in it? i noticed ck5 has been a little boring as well but i think its good there are "newbies". its what keeps the hobby going and at one time we were all "newbies". we wern't born with the knowledge we have now, and just like them we had to learn too

i wanna put eatons front rear on it, eliptical 4 link rear and leafs in the front for the start. Probly bob the bed a bit. And just hook an sm465 and 205 up to the 4 cyl thts in my s10 run 5.13's in the axles since i have a spare third, do lomax in the t case and throw some 40's on it. Actually id just do a doubler.... Get lower gearing for that little 2.8

a 2.8? wow thats quite a little motor for running eatons with 40's. if i were you id swap a 4.3 vortec in because isn't the bellhousing part of the block different on a 2.8 as opposed to a 4.3 or a 350? why leafs in the front though.. i never understood why guys would run leafs in front and 4 link the rear

well 22r's are 2.4 and ive seen them run hella big **** so i figure as long as i gear it right ill be good. Besides IMO the 2.8 in my s10 ill be using is pretty damn powerful. A crapload more powerful than a crappy jap yota motor. And the bellhousing mounting should be the same since it has an nv3500, whick is the same trans that my buddy has in his 94 chev fullsize with a 350. The reason im linking the rear and leafs front is because i need alot softer suspension in the back since its gunna weigh next to nothing so i can have full flex capabilities and keep a little bit of height

I think the 2.8 was a 60 degree motor, so I doubt it would have the same bell housing pattern as a 4.3 or small block (which are 90 degree). They may have made both types of bell housing for the NV3500 though. Was there ever a stock S10 2.8/manual/231 setup? I'd go with that if I were you. If the 2.7 gears in the 231 aren't low enough, you can swap in 4.0 gears (with a case half). It would be much shorter with a SYE than a doubler and plenty strong behind the 2.8. I think a 203/205 would be way overkill strength wise and add a lot of weight for that poor 2.8 to haul around, not to mention making for a very short rear driveshaft.

If you want to go with a 465 and 205 or doubler, I think you'd want to step up to the 4.3 to make it all bolt up nicely.

Or build a real freak and swap in a 22R with a 5 speed and marlin crawler. :D

You guys may laugh at me for this, but it happens here.

So i was walking out to the big garage a week or so ago, and saw the axles i always see there, and realized they are 8 lug napco style axles! Just like whats in your truck. Granted they are covered in a couple feet of snow now.

And i just spent five minutes rereading this thread to make sure you were the one running the napcos.

If i use them ill put them in the 55 a buddy converted into a napco like 4x4, i just have the frame cab and bed, not an orignal but frames identical to one. If i ever do the 57 true napco im doing it stock like with the exception of a small journal 283 or 327 because IIRC they only got 6's stock.

Mix canyon next weekend if it stays dry this week? I don't want to head up there if it is going to be sloppy by I really want to wheel its been to damn long
