The time for my pilgrimage has finally arrived. Since I'll now have some outdoors stuff to post I figured I would make a fresh post in here. Not too much to post yet- even though I start my journey today I won't be in the Pyrenees for a few more days. But if something pops up getting there I'll post it. No idea how often I'll find wifi, so posts might be sporadic.

So for now: boots are broken in, hair & beard cut short, pack weighs 17 lbs, and I am ready to go! For now a pic of me along the way 2 years ago. This was the trip that finalized my decision to do this.

If you want the how/why/more of my ramblings/etc:

Pamplona city walls at night. Reminds me of Old San Juan, PR.

First, I'll say the hike through the Pyrenees was harder than I expected. Started off not too bad, had to take the low route- the path of Charlamane- because the high pass -route of Napoleon- was still blocked with snow. Was a little disappointed, but probably for the best.

As I went up the mountain we got up into the snowline. The day went back an forth between rain and snow.

The Camino is not all beautiful scenes and introspection. Sometimes its laundry and concrete plants. But then you see this:
