So about like adding a second 14bff then?

Tell ya the truth, I'm not so sure what all the hullaballoo is about super low gears. I used to wheel a J**P with a stick non-granny 1st, no 4:1 low range kit in the dana 300 xfercase, 4.10s in the axles, and 35" MTRs...I did fine, even though people told me I was geared too high.

The problem has absolutely nothing to do with torque. It has to do with speed. My low ratio is not nearly low enough IMO, and trust me, my motor makes plenty of torque at idle. I have NEVER had my motor at full throttle in the rocks. Being geared too high in the rocks forces you to go way too fast over things or slip the clutch. I have wheeled mine for years one of the lowest stock crawl ratios ever offered and I can't wait until I get a doubler.

You would have been geared too high if you drove it on the street much (unless you enjoy being the slowest car in traffic).

I am not going to purposely scrap a 700 but the input is def interesting I had no idea there were so many ways to smoke a 700R4:D . I generally make large purchases when I get my annual Bonus.

I also get no overtime as I am active duty. As a matter of fact I am sitting at work right now as I type this:D .

He prefers Auto you prefer manual. This is my post so take it to the lounge:haha: . JK no point in arguing something like that driving styles are personal some people drive 2 foot some 1 some use manuals some use autos converted to manual. I am going manual and thought it would be fun to see some ideas to "get my nuts out of the purse". It will be mine, Oh yes It will be mine.:D

Eh...yah. Low gears are for control, but it's all relative.

Torque...had an AMC 258 Inline 6cyl. 230lb ft and 100 hp, 4k rpm redline. Could bog it down to 300 rpm. The Jeep was very light, compared to your tubbo blazer. :D She was stripped down, no bumpers, no cage, no doors, no back seat, no spare, no top. 32-3400 lbs or so if I remember right. So, being geared high worked good. I always "bumped" up over stuff the other guys (with heavier, lower geared jeeps would just "grind" the tires against). The gray jeep at the top in the pic is mine, the green one took forever to pick his way up after my jeep skipped and bounced right to the top like a giddy mountain goat. I went from 33s to 35s and the she was much happier on the street, too, since the 6 had such a low RPM powerband.

I am not going to argue the stick vs. auto bs but I will say this, ask the guys who run urock, werock, or the guys doing rock racing and 99% will say run an auto.

I didn't have to convince my wife I need a gate shifter, all I did was let her drive and get all twisted up on the rocks and need to shift from low to reverse. A few times of doing that with binding linkage is all it takes.:D

damn you lucky bastard, I didnt have to do anything to kill my 700's, well 3 of them to be exact. Just let me borrow your truck for a few hours, I wont abuse it but I garuntee youll get it back with a burnt up tranny. Those things just dont like me, bad ju-ju I guess.

Well when my wife puts her foot down....I stand up straight and remember what my Grandpa told me. "Son if you act like a man they'll treat you like one.";)

I'll let you know when he's born. See how close we can get. :deal:

Man of the house has nothing to do with it. It is because she does all of the bills that I can not just spend when I want cause then bills would not be paid. She does bills as I am not to be trusted with finances of any kind:D . I just thought it was funny how she thinks I should get 250K more out of my tranny:rolleyes: . But what ever I dont need to be an ass and do what I want ever time just to prove to myself that I am "A Man" To each his own.

Here are some things Ipulled before I fully tamed my ol lady

Fake a break down - I suggest this instead of ruining your 700. Just tell her your tranny went bad...

Make her car break down (again a fake). have her tranny "go bad". Then buy a new one (one for your rig) and pretend to fix hers when she is not around. then swap yours and never tell her about it :)

My wife has no problems shelling out cash to fix her car lol. But mine on the other hand, gets a conversation about why I need to fix it... So I used to just make hers break down so I could buy my parts with out a fight :) She would say, my car is acting up. I'd say, it needs a new carb, I'll get one tomorrow and put it in. She gives me a huge thanks and "other favors" for being there to save her lol

Surely you will have problems with these since you made two huge mistakes for a rig builder.

First mistake - Never let the woman control the cash. You have no way of excluding her from purchases when she knows whats going on with the pay checks.

Second - Never tell her any specifics about your rig. She just may listen and notice when you buy something new.

I learned this from my dad. He once purchased a joiner for $500. He put it in the garage with all his other tools under a blanket for a couple weeks. He said he will take off the blanket later and she will think its been there the whole time. It worked :) All she sees is a sea of tools and has no idea what they are or when they showed up. He did this with a band saw too. He said he would just say it was out in the shed and he dragged it in to the garage if she ever noticed.

If she does not know what you have, she will never know what is new...

I no longer do any of that. I just do it and if she has any trouble with it, that is her problem :) Al she can do is leave me... Thats a win win situation lol

Im taking notes so if I ever get married I know what to do. Thats a creative way to bring new tools into the garage, pretty funny.
