So, about a year and a half ago I sold my wife's 88' K5 blazer I had built for her because of our new addition to our family our son Breck. A two door 8" Skyjacker lifted, 37X14.50X17 Toyo tire pavement princess was not the ideal family wagon...

The following photos show what transformation our blazer went through...

Purchased from the original owner for a steal at $2,000.00 with 73,000 documented original miles I was stoked to have purchased a blazer that wasn't full of beer cans and camo!

4" lift, 33" tires, and very clean all the way around... The 350 TBI with 700R4 over drive transmission worked great (At least at the time)!

The tires that were on the truck were in great shape with exception to a lot of cracking from sun damage. Eventually the tire tread separated from the damage and I was looking at buying a new set of tires... I had already purchased a set of Toyo A/T 37X14.50X17 tires and KMC XD wheels for my GMC crew cab project and because I was a ways from needing them I thought why not use them on the blazer? The reason why not to is because they were 8 lug wheels and I had a 6 lug half ton blazer... It just so happened that I had a set of 3/4 ton axles laying around (Imagine that)... Additionally the 4" lift would not clear the 37's and I was not about to cut up my cream puff blazer to make them fit... It just so happened that I had a 8" skyjacker soft ride lift springs in my shop from another project I changed direction on (Imagine that)...

To work I went!

The font axle is a Dana 44 with the flat top passenger side steering knuckle. The long term plan was to set the blazer up with a cross over high steer setup. All new bearings, seals and brakes were installed and she was ready to go.

The rear axle is a Corp 14 Full float axle. I built new spring purchases which allowed me to set the proper pinion angle on the rear driveline.. All new brakes were installed and she was ready.

Both axles had a set of 4:10 gears in them..

The front axle was set up with a quick disconnect sway bar, steel braided extended brake lines were used, and Es3000 Procomp shocks were installed...

BAM! So here she sit!
The removable top was faded so I repainted it. The grill, axles, and suspension parts (With exception to the leaf springs) were all painted with rustoleum's hammer finish Bronze paint...

High Angle Driveline of Paradise, CA custom built the front and rear drivelines. The rear driveline has a CV joint installed and the actual driveline tubing is 1/4" sidewall material to take the abuse should it be served...

The interior was already in excellent condition. I had "The Cleaning Connection" come out and professionally steam clean the entire interior. All of the plastic panel fasteners were removed and replace with stainless fasteners, I had the headliner replaced, and installed a custom stereo system in the truck which included: Kenwood head unit, 6.5" Polk Audio comp speakers in the doors, and in the back interior fender panels, 3.5 Polk speakers in the dash, and the truck sounded sick!

To install the Kenwood head unit I had welded in the original dash, and cut out the appropriate rectangular insert for the new stereo mount... I had a welding blanked covering most of the interior while I did this but man was is sketchy!

MECHANICALLY SPEAKING:
I had the 700R4 fully built with the best of the best from a local transmission shop ($2,300 later), I pulled the TBI unit off and installed new injectors, installed a new high output alternator, Optima Red top battery, retro fit A/C system, new ignition system, new exhaust manifolds, new 3" flowmaster exhaust system, and the list goes on!

My wife just got mad at me for posting this photo of her LOL... I don't know how she puts up with me:)

Drive by video:
The Air cleaner was the biggest eye sore and I have no idea why I didn't repaint it or replace it?

Sunscribed.sorry u had to sell the blazer. That was a sharp lookin rig!

So here is the new project:
1987 Chevy 2WD 3/4 ton Suburban in EXCELLENT condition! Currently it is owned by the 2nd owner, it has a 454 TBI big block, Turbo 400 trans and is about the cleanest original suburban I have seen to date. The current owner has owned it for a great number of years and has been garage kept it's entire life. The truck has 128,000 miles on it and runs perfectly...
I totally dig the paint job on this ole girl and it is in original PERFECT condition!
Technically I will not be picking up this suburban until this coming week, and possibly not until after Thanksgiving (Time permitting)....

The plan:
For the time being it will just be used as an around town driver. When my Crew cab truck is finished it will go under the scalpel...
1 Ton 4X4 axles: Currently I have in my shop a set of Corp 14 FF rear axle, and matching Dana 44 Flat top passenger side steering knuckle front axle.
4 or 6 inch skyjacker lift
Cummins or Duramax diesel engine
Allison Transmission or NV4500 5 speed (Likely the Allison because this will be my wife's burb)..
Bitchin' stereo of some sort
Tube side steps
and who knows what else? :)

immediate plan:
Remove old man running boards, and tow mirrors
color sand the pin stripping off of the white section and re-clear coat the whole truck...

Tan Interior on the burb?
I believe so... The current owner will be sending me photos of it this coming week. He is an older gentlemen and needs his son to take the photos for him to email...

The owner said the interior is as nice as the day it came off the assembly line! Garage kept it's whole life, meticulously cared for and not owned by a hill billy redneck or getto drug / hooker pusher... No offense to either of you but neither of you types of people keep your vehicles very nice LOL!

if the pin stripe is painted on just use 2 doller can of oven cleaner and let it soak .

seen it done lots of times. :D

I am in freaking love! Hands down this is the cleanest stock Burb I have ever seen and holy crap wait until you see what I end up doing with this one (After the completion of my crew cab)!

I'm going to work on picking this baby up this coming week!
