This gas tank came in a 74 blazer I just bought, it dosent look like a normal gas tank. Its HUGE, it fits inside the frame rails but its 16" deep, I would guess 40+ gallons. I dont know if I'll use it for this project because it hangs down 10" below the frame rails, and its missing the sending unit. You guys seen anything like this? Or have an idea where I could source a sending unit for it?

That got a bolt in sending unit? It kind of looks like it. Not sure when GM stopped doing that, it was prior to '73. Might be an option though, if that's all it needs. Probably have to extend whatever you can find though, that's ridiculously deep lol.

I'd bet it was available from JCWhitney at one point. As I recall they used to (still might for all I know) sell a bunch of additional capacity tanks.

That tank probably came from these people. http://www.nwmp.com/ You might want to check out their website and see if you can identify the tank and possibly buy a sender from them.

A quick search on their website shows they offer a 43 gallon tank for 73-91 blazers.

So Taylor....Ummm.....as I was working on the 84 in my garage today, I found the sender for it. I took it out a while back to fix the sending unit. Sorry. You want it?

Quick update, the tank was made by NWMP I talked to one of there techs and they stopped making them with this type of sending unit around 94. He talked me through how to make a sending unit for it by using a stock unit and extending the pickup and float tubes. So I ordered one and will give it a try.

Thanks Clint but its not really worth the 190 mile round trip to get it. BTW I got the motor to fire today, new plugs, oil and rejetted the carb...that thing is a runner! It sounds better then the crate motor in my truck, cant wait till I can get the gas tank in and can test it out.

You ever hear of mail delivery. :D

As long as it doesn't smell like fuel he could ship it to you for little to nothing compared to having to buy and modify a stock sender to work.
