N-E-1 run a manual valve body in there 700R4?

when my truck was still auto,my last 700r4 i had was a manual valve body. reverse manual valve body actually. so to shift up u pulled back and down you pushed forward. but i liked it. if i had the money to build a tranny that would last up to HP and offroad abuse,i would get another one. i liked that it was full pressure all the time so there was no worry about ur tranny not having enough pressure that would cause slipping. i had a B&M gate/ratchet shifter for a car application. but i just made a stand for it in front of my center console and it worked great. until the high miles/OEM internals couldnt hold up to my engine anymore.

I am seriously considering going back to a 700r4. If I do I will be going RMVB. I wouldn't mind having the lower first gear and od for high speed runs.

Would a manual valve body eliminate the need for the TV cable on a 700R4??...

Full line pressure... Is that a good thing? And why?

Thanks,
Andrew

yes, because an auto tranny relys on fluid pressure to move, without it,U would go no where and burn the tranny up in about 30 seconds, the TV cable regulates it,but with full lie pressure the shifts r crisper and almost no slipping occures,so it doesn't drag on the shifts

what Shawn said... the only drawback is it's a little tougher life on the pump, thus a quality high vane count pump is wanted...

6.2l and 4.11 gears, 31" tires as of now... I dont think its going to hurt a stock tranny if I dont drive it like a dragsters! HA HA!

Okay, thanks for the info... Tranny as it is, is on the way out... need to decide what to do.

a quality rebuild with the beast sunshell, some good clutches, servo, etc would probably do ya fine... maybe a stage 2 or 3 from BTO setup... manual valve body is definitely a different driving experience.. it's basically a manual without the clutch.. you have to shift thru all the gears....

Sorry for digging up the old thread. I ran one in my blazer when it was still auto. Every other vehicle I own was manual (blazer is now) and it made it tolerable.

I had the Art Carr reverse manual valve body. It does eliminate the kickdown cable and also gives you engine breaking in all gears (which is very nice IMO). For bombing through the desert, I miss it, for everything else (including crawling) I love my NV4500.
