I have a few close ups if you want. Mostly those that show how the cage goes through though.

So that's what the radio wiring looked like on mine - before a previous owner chopped the plugs off (because they were apparently too cheap to buy an adapter harness that would allow them to leave the plugs intact).

could anyone snap a pic of the drivers side upper door mount while they have the dash apart? would like to know if id be wasting time taking it off to change the broken mount

Yeah, I'll try to snap one tomorrow before work, if not then when I get home.

Oh, and as far as the wiring goes it all depends on what the p/o had in it 1985_K5_Silverado, if he was going from the head unit to stand alone amps then to speakers then there was no reason to get a harness, it would be a waste of money.

cant really see it but from the top pic if you move the camera twards the windshile and point it down into where the mount is that would be perfect, my dad doesn;t believe me there is a 3rd bolt hidden up in there.

If you're hoping to unbolt and remove the dash assembly I'll tell you right now it ain't gonna happen. The whole deal is spot welded to the cowl/windshield frame as well as being bolted on both sides. From memory i don't recall more than two bolts on either end though...

Here is a good shot of the area you're looking for though (with gauge cluster removed)
