i thought it was an eaton. just not sure on the model, thanks!

Either an HO52 or HO72. The HO72 is the one-ton version with the load-bolt on the carrier housing on the opposite side of the ring gear from the pinion head. Prevents ring gear deflection under load.

The Eaton HO52 and the HO72 both use the ring gear load bolt.

This is definately an Eaton rear axle.

i thought i read that the ho72 from a 1 ton cant clear a 16" rim but i may be wrong on that, at least the heavy duty version of the ho72.

some of em have the same spring perch spacing as an 01 ford ranger.
can come in 4.56 and 5.13 ratios and maybe have a detroit locker in em.

Ive heard theyre plent strong, a friend has on in his truck with 42's.

The lack of available parts scares me though.

i'm picking up the K5 in January, I plan on opening up rear end right away, so I will find out what is in it. I'm pretty sure it has a locker in it, I drove it down the road and definatly feels like it in turns.

It's a good rear but parts are becoming scarce. A buddy of mine recently did drums on his and it was 600+, they also only have 16 spline axle shafts but most guys that run them like them alot.

looks like a eaton ho 52 to me.3/4 ton pre 14 bolt.usually 4.10 or 3.73 geared.detroit was in a lot of them but cant find many parts anymore.
