I fond it behind the dash, nothing connected to it. It has some kind of circuit board in it any ideas.

I thinks that either the flux capaciter or the left side reaction adjustment mechanism. It's very important and should be hooked back up.

dont know what it is but I had one too. mine was plugged in and I unplugged it to see what happened. everything still works just as bad as it always did so I left it off.

looking at that part my guess is your truck is an 85 or 86. I think that is a knock sensor computer thing a ma jigger. Hooked to the distributor in those years and would retard timing if knock was sensed.

Am I right?

my 86 had one, my 82s did as well. :dunno: i'm thinking TCC lockup controller, as it is NOT controlled by the ECM as many people think.

That is a Chevrolet Part No: 86DBS. It was a trial

protection device. Only certain trucks got one of those babies. Once you removed it, well, you see what happened.

88 JIMMY TBI, And its possible that it was hooked to something but last year when I dropped the column to change the pedal assembly I noticed it as I was pulling sh!t from under the dash. after the swap I just wedged it back under the dash for a later date. I was digging around in there again this week and i decided to take it out and try to figure out what it is.

I found that under my 84 M1008 so I don't think it is a knock sensor since I have a diesel. Hmm someone has to know what it does.

Doh, I had one in my 85 and was told it was a knock sensing thing. I don't think it was ever hooked up! Only time I ever had one in my hand. I'm fallling back on the flux capacitor guess.:haha:

Hmm Ill have to look for that hting in my truck, I love removing all the BS that isnt important, sure cleans stuff up.

Edit:
Hmmm...maybe thats why my cruise hasnt ever worked in that pickup...

Perhaps they were installed as part of the factory build even if the cruise option wasn't ordered? Just in case someone wanted to add the cruise at a later date? It sure would have simplified things on the line if EVERY truck got one.

Could well be. Probably a $2 item when bought by the metric ton! Might as well put it in needed or not!

Yup, that's what I was thinking. It would have probably cost them MORE to single out the trucks that didn't need it, and adjust the line to accomodate the change.

uh in the TBI trucks it is, look at a ECM pinout or the ECM code its self it is defently controlled by the ECM

i guess that has something to with my CC not working. thanks for the replies. I knew it was not my flux capacitor it still works fine.

I wonder if mine still works . I had nothing between the carb and the thingy that yanky on the carb , so I took the rest off and tucked the wires into the looms and taped over em . The rest s still attached to my original heads soemwhere in 4xcrazy's backyard if he didn't use them as cores ( without me giving him a different set back yet ) .
