It has been done. This is probably the wrong forum to post this in though. Post it in the garage and you will get alot more views and more responses quicker.

You can always tumble it down a rock, cut off the bent stuff, and then bolt the leftover skins to the roll cage.
When I started mine we narrowed the factory core support to keep the headlights, kept the cowl the same width as factory and then bent the fenders in to match. After the tumbling, nothing matched so we cut it off.

That sounds easy enough to cut up whats already smashed up, Ive learned this lesson from from my first fullsize project. Now that im building up the second one from the first one's left overs, it's a little easer to measure, cut and fab when things are still a little straight. ive had to many multi-colored smashed up rigs  I think i owe it to my self to make something that is apealing as well as functional.

I'd like to start over with mine but the darn thing just won't die to the point I can put it out of our misery.

Let me borrow it for the weekend and problem solved. :D

narrowed front clip

i have an 80 k5, i recently tapered the front and built a tube front bumper. i am having a frame twist problem on the front. any ideas to correct would be helpful.

I have not got mine finished enought to get it on the trail yet, so i have not witnessed this problem yet. I can completly understand thought, there is alot of flex in the front clip before there narrowed and removing all the sheetmetal to tapper it is only going to make it worse.
I've seen valve springs placed between the nut and washer on the front body mounts so when the frame flexes it lets the core support pull up and away from the frame. of course you'll need 2ea longer bolts to accomodate this.
I my self was planing to build some sort of fronal exo style frame work from tubing that will start from the front moving aft and tieying into the fire wall and nerf bars.
Do a search in the Center Of Gravity for SANDMAN or Narrowed front clip, you'll see what im talking about.
