So I have been looking at SXS's lately and would need a wider trailer. I have a utility 5x14 right now that fits ok - overall width is 82". But a 5' wide bed will not hold many of the wider utv's out there.
I started looking and realized the next larger 'common' size seems to be around the 96" mark.
Unfortunately, I have a gas meter in the way - takes up 18" of the width of my gate which leaves me w/ 90" of clearance. If it were higher off the ground I could clear a much larger trailer but I believe there's code about how close it can be under the eaves and I don't have any other good places to really move it at my house... I've looked for a bit and can't find much of anything trailer wise that will have a 6' wide bed and still have an overall width under 90"
Which leaves me with this... Have you guys seen anything? If nothing comes up, I may build my own - if I'm going to do that I'll build it strong enough to be a car hauler as I've had times where I've needed one - custom make it under 90" as a deckover and I should be able to fit most of the vehicles out there on it. My Jimmy w/ 1tons on it is only 84" and it's the widest vehicle I own. Duallies need not apply.. lol
I'm sure I could build a trailer strong enough to do the job, but I have a tendency to over build which makes things heavier than they need to be. Any of you know of resources that point the right way as far as steel sizes for the loads if I go that direction?
