The other day me and my sister were at the store, I was waiting outside in my Dodge while she was inside. A friend of mine showed up and we started talking, she said that she smelled gas, I get out and I can smell it too, I look under the truck and I see a puddle about 6 inches round of gas, with a steady drip off the bottom of the tank. It was running down the side of the tank closest to the frame rail.

I stuck a bucket under it last night, and it was dry this morning, so it's only leaking when the truck is running. I assume it's a line atop the tank, or possibly a seal around the fuel pump?

I'm pulling the bed off next week, any ideas?

I thought we were talking about a Blazer until I saw the 'pulling the bed off' part. I'd say check any rubber lines or o-rings. Ethanol-enriched fuels can have a bad effect on rubber. If it has a skidplate, sometimes mud can get between the skid and the bottom of the tank and create rust. If you're pretty sure it's coming from the top of the tank, then yeah....check rubber first.

We need pics of your "friend" first then we'll be glad to help out. :D

If its EFI and has a return line,it might have a rust pinhole in it...that will only leak while its running...if it were a leak on the pressure side you'd have a spray or stream coming out under pressure steady with it running...

Depending on the year some Dodge trucks had that nylon fuel line tubing,so rust can be ruled out,but the fittings do leak sometimes and the tubing can crack after it gets old and brittle,or rub thru on something..

Ha, She would gut me like a fish if I even considered that.

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that, Its a 95 Half ton 360 Dodge.

It's only when the truck is running, and I can't see a wet spot on the bottom of the bed, so I don't think its got any pressure to it.

Its running down the side of the tank, with a steady drip, one drip every two seconds or so.

Jack up the radiator cap, slide a GM 1/2 ton of the same vintage in its place. Problem solved
