National Get together of K-5s (EAST Coast) July 2007 UPDATED 4-10-07!

Haven't hit RC's forums yet but I'll definately go over there and give them the ole "excuses" LOL... I'm making the run on both as soon as I get that snorkel installed and have extra supplies with me; especially the winch access.

As soon as I get those pics, I'll post them for sure.

Stick: You could make it there with no trouble. Just can't get too rambunctious with the pedal. On 8/5 I had a group that included a stock `03 Liberty and a stock (base optioned) Xterra that got thru even the heavy blue trails.

Secondly, there should be enough fs Blazers there that there should be plenty of spares. RC itself also has extra parts in storage in a pinch but can't promise what they have. You should be fine....

Im sure people will be willing to help fix it, Im kind of lacking in that area, all Ive done myself is lift and body mounts, but Ill try to get it ready for the trip

Can count me in if you think my Stocker K-5 AKA 10 bolt will work up there, I'd really hate to break it and not be able to get home.
On a side note could you flat tow a broken K-5 behind a '03 1500 suburban back to DC?

Stick I ran it Saturday in a complete stock 1987 with running boards and corp 10 bolt with 3:08 gears. The place has spots where you could really F- up if you have your head in a dark spot. Was a great time even the rug rat liked it and was talking about how great it is going to be to be there next year.

Just got home left Gettysburg around 19:00 hrs (7:00pm) ran 15/22 up to 80 and then west. Got a heck of a lot better fuel economy too. The fog was so thick we lost trucks ahead of us by 50 feet. I am so fing beat I will post details and pics later but now must sleep!! (NO shower just want sleep!!!!)

Recon Update 9-9-2006

What a great place Rausch Creek is it has all kinds of trails and even the easy ones have a few spots to get ya. The secenery was great and the terrain was great to.

I want to thank Witter and Lynn as well as the great crew I went wheeling with. We even got poor Ed (stock red Jeep) to be our sacrificial lamb at Lake Christy  . The trails were great and had a little something for everyone. As I told Witter you don't want a paved highway you need a little challenge.

There were places where if you had a H.U.A. you would be :yikes:. The rug rat is still talking about it. Ed C.meet me at the Motel and wheeled with us at the park. We arrived at the park around 8:30 and the view from the top of the mountian was great. There we hooked up with Wayne, Shiprekd and a couple of people in the two dodges (sorry can't remember your names). We had 2 K5 Blazers 1 Ram Charger (old style) a new Jeep and a full size Dodge pick up. You all made me feel like I had known you for a long time. What a true show of brotherhood. Wish we could of stayed all day and done more.

The park is a combanation of different ground conditions. The landscape of the park varies greatly. Most of the area is lined with trees, providing substantial shade during the summer months and adding driving challenges year round as the trails wind though the forest. The park is divided into two parts, based on the topography of the area. A key feature of the west property is a large glacial deposit, called the “Rock Creek”. The deposit begins within a few feet of a main access road and extends over 1800 feet.

A lot of the trails with a lower rating have multiple obstacles that offer a challenging option. The Higher trails have many areas to offer a pucker factor to the die hard wheeler. Rocks to crawl and hills to climb till you go blind. There are pits and puddles to play in.

The camping is primitive and doable a lot of the areas are just that PRIMITIVE! If you need lush green grass and tables this is not the place. If you want to party and sleep under the stars this is one hell of a spot.

For those who didn't know my rig is a 1987 Chevy Blazer K5 bone stock 305 TBI with 3:08 gears plus I had running boards on it. I was not bashful of trees but if I tried I could of not got any brush marks. A little polishing compound would take it off. Scuffed a running board twice but that was why I left them on.

I have posted pictures of my Recon here The first two pages are from Wayne and I thank him for them also. http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i205/Metrodps/Rausch%20Creek%20Scouting%20trip/?sc=6

looks like you guys had fun =D

still waiting it out for mine....20% chance of getting a free 700 from a friend, 50% chance of gettnig 700 or th350 from previous owner... 10% chance of getting Th350 + 3/4 ton axels from PO.

Ay, wish me luck...hope i get the title soon too >_<

When Met left, our group headed out on mostly blue trails. 3 were full size and one was a jeep.

Some of the blues are tight in places. Especially on trail 10-A above "Milkshake". There's a right hander that caused a lil trouble for the Ramcharger but they got thru. Broke a center cap and dinged the bottom rear quarter but that was due to inexperience. My blazer is way bigger and I made it through w/o K-turning. It's tight though...

One thing I would advise, anyone taller than an 8" lift and big tires (over 35") that has a light-bar, would be smart to remove the light-bar. I've had branches knock the covers off, turn them sideways, and even had me gasping for air in some places when the trees were tight in an off-camber position.

The other lil tidbit of advise, would be anyone with a softop and removabe side windows. Remove the side windows! The green trails aren't much of a worry but if you're sittin tall enough the blue trails have some overhang that could give them a few scratches.

There's 19 pics but pretty much all of Ed's jeep and my Blazer. Dave (dakota) was kinda biased with the camera.. lol

man i would have loved to go i just moved and am just getting back online. sweet pics sounds like lots of fun!!!

Hey, got the title for the jimmy but im not gonna have the gas to bring my own truck up this year

Also found out that i have a TH350, not a 700r4.. (yeah im learning slowly)

Well, that pic re-affirms my post about some low hanging branches. Twisted one light and knocked the cover off the other.. LOL

For those of you who noticed, that puddle on the far driver's side is the 5ft deep water pit. Very few have made it through that thing w/o having to drain a few quarts of water out of their engines..

Rausch creek is an awesome facility. Had a group up this past weekend (10/7) here's a few pics to gnaw on..

BTW - Wayne..... The Blazer went 2-for-2 on Saturday. Milkshake and the 5ft pit lost.....

This one is of Rock Creek....

OK guys and Gals been in touch with several people and companies we are going to be making an announcement in a couple days. Hang in there it is a positive one too.

As promised I have some updates for you.

I am proud to welcome After Ours from New Jersey a east coast fab shop as a sponsor. http://afterours.net/
Here are tube doors they make. There is a full description on their website, I will just give you some of the details. The latch on the door is designed to swing shut, no screwing with lifting or pulling, just slam it. They also have a bracket to accept the stock mirrors from your truck. Here is the best part they bolt right up to the stock hinges. The cost is $380 a pair you can contact for more info:

Ken AKA shiprekd has agreed to be the ground man (lucky him) to help coordinate things in the area. PLEASE give Ken a big hand.

We have this so far and things just keep getting better:

1. Support - We're all set for repair support. A small trailer is going to be there with most of Kens tools. Air compressor and air tools, torch, welder, a 12ton press, you name it. It's a done deal

2. Food - We're going to set-up an EZ-up or two and offer Hamburgers (the real kind!) with all the toppings, Hot dogs, hoagies, meatball sandwiches, hot turkey, hot roast beef, along with all the extras. (condiments, chips, etc..)
We'll offer lunch and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. Prices will be extremely reasonable (not like a football game!). The money will go to repayment of the food and the rest will be donated to Rausch Creek.
This is "in stone" also. No questionable areas. done deal...

We are doing this so everyone can have a great time. I am still working on Warn Industries. I need some more companies and input from you since this is for your brothers and sisters. Give me some suggestions on some activities I know WET T-SHIRT contest :yikes: . How about a little Rodeo with cones and an egg on it to test drivers skill?

On a sad note I lost a lot of email address due to computer crash. Could you PLEASE re-email me about coming SUMMER BLAZE is alive and heading to a great event.
