EarthRoamers are awesome, but the price tag keeps most people from actually putting them at much risk off road. Also, look at the weights of the larger ones. With GVWR like 18,000 lbs, the climbing power and flotation are not what we think of for an "off road" vehicle. You are also looking at high weight rating tires. To keep perspective, the super duty ones are as heavy and consume as much fuel as full-size motorhomes, with a lot less space inside.
The concept is similar to the Revcon 4x4s.
As for the Jeep one, I bet the top pops up at an angle, with a slide forward in the front. This would cover the solar panel, but allow sleeping up top. If not, the whole thing is kind of a waste.
