Blew a U-Joint in my '91 V3500 crew cab. It took out the ear on the driveshaft at the axle end. Its a 2 piece with carrier bearing. Looking for a good driveline shop to put a new yoke on, rebuild it while its out. Northern Colorado would be best for me, not aware of anyone who can do it in Southeast WY. Any NOCO guys have a recommendation? Thanks.

Last 2 shops I used in the state are in Denver. I know there’s a few driveline shops between you and I, but never used any of them

@mrk5 ?

Front range driveline is who built my rear driveshaft. They are in Englewood. 3 years without any issues at all. Great quality.

I use the appropriately named Northern Colorado Driveline in Garden City (southeast corner of Greeley) just off the Hwy 85 & 34 junction. Not sure how their prices compare but haven't ever had a problem with the quality of work. They've been around for decades. They were really busy with oil field stuff, but I imagine that's slacking off with the dump in oil price.

I talked with them about an hour ago. Sounds like they can take care of it no problem. Its the closest option for me by a lot. Total rebuild with a new yoke for around $500. I guess I am headed for Greely.

I was thinking that's what it cost me last time I bombed a rear driveshaft.... :doah:

Not that bad if you think about it. It's $100 for the 3 u-joints from NAPA, another $50-$100 for the carrier bearing. Then cut off the yoke, weld on a new one. Service or repair slip yoke, balance everything, etc. $200-$300 worth of parts plus a couple hours of labor, not much chance anyone would do it for less. Sucks to have to deal with it, but it will be new after the work and last for years.

That's the logic I use.

I have used front range driveline and Northern Colorado Driveline. Both shops gave good quality service. My northern Colorado Driveline rear shaft was nice and new for about 4 days until I bent it at the beginning of BB '07. It has lasted ever since, with a slight vibration of course!

Learned something new. I didn't know there is a Garden City, CO. My wife grew up in Garden City, KS.

Greeley was originally a "dry" city. 3 little towns formed around it to house the bars and brothels; Evans, Rosedale, and Garden City. Rosedale has since been merged into Garden City.

Ironically now Garden City is the only municipality in the Greeley area that is allowing the pot shops. So it has kind of come full circle.
