I'm leaving in about 15 minutes, and was hoping one of you could possibly tell me the approximate length of a D60 kingpin spring when it's just sitting, with no load on it.

Anyone?

One more quick question:

The only 1/2" fender washers I could find were approximately one and a half inches across. I was under the impression they should be more like 2" to work properly.

Will the 1 1/2" ones work?:dunno:

man you can get new springs for 8-10 bucks. and 95% of the ones i have replaced are warped to one side when standing flat by them selves. also get new bushings. almost every 60 i have been in eats the one side bushing compared to the other side.

Yeah, I know ORD sells the parts, but I'm going out to my property and was hoping to deal with this little repair in the next day or two. The closest town is about half an hour away, but they have a few parts stores and a GM dealership........

also how is the condition of the ds studs and nuts. in the rust belt hear i need to order new on just about every one i do.

This is on the V3500, which has absolutely zero rust, which is quite a change for me. The studs and nuts are in beauty shape, brother!!! :thumb:

stealer ship around hear need to order them and 3 times the price.

best soak the stuff with pb blaster and so on. then get new stuff and do next time. if thay are over 6-7 years old thay need changeing.

why are you asking this? did you get the death shakes? feals like axle is coming out from under the truck. try that with 38" tires and have never had that happen and you want to crap your pants. :wink1:

in my experience, parts stores and dealerships only carry those items in bulk. IE: 10/pgk or more....

I would use the 2" fender washers because the smaller ones can walk around in the cap and cause damage to the bushing over time.

Call Highonda and get a quote for the parts you need.

Paul...still around? I've got a cap off of my D60 in the garage and could have that baby measured in a second or two if you still need it...
