small vid (sorry bout the crappy vid) thought i had a bad u-joint took out drive shaft and found this.
how much play should be there? also should the transfer-case output shaft have play in and out if the retaining nut is tight? crap didnt work

Rear diff shouldn't have any in,out,up,down, left, right play. Rotational play depends on if open or locker. A Detroit will turn almost 1/4 turn sometimes.

Transfer case output shouldn't have anything but a little rotational movement, 1/8 turn at most.

success!! third time is the charm
i have a vibration at freeway speeds. and went to check u-joints and found this

Just saw video. Bearings look shot. Is it going in and out too? Looks like it is to me.

it is, guess its time to get a bearing and seal kit. hope it lasts a little while i just ordered my fitech efi kit.

I know 12 bolt have a crush sleeve. I wonder if you I wonder if tightening the pinion nut more would take out some of the play? I'd ask a gear guru before trying.......

i dont like playing with ill get a bearing and seal kit and pull it and rebuild just have to save my pennies so i can get what i want.

out of curiosity will a diff out of a 2006 chevy silverado truck fit in this 77 blazer chassy?there is a 14 bolt for sale $250, with callipers, discks, tires rims and ebrake cables

:weld::hack:You in to fab work, then it has a probability of fitting. Not to forget all the other little things that can go wrong. Does the gear ratio match the front of yours? May need a conversion u joint.

i know ill have to move the spring peches and shock mounts but is the width right, and i was told they were 373 front and rear know im going to check tomorrow

so its worth the extra just to get the 20
Not if you doing normal things. I have pressed ball joints, wheel studs and other normal maintenance items for a Blazer. I would verify the front ratio to be on the safe side.

should i use the crush sleeve or a solid bushing?
Are you referring to the 12 bolt?
If so , I like the spacer, it gives good, solid torque numbers . No worries about going too far . And I hate trying to start the crush on a sleeve.
