...who the hell do I go to for this? After frying 2 $40 5" hole saw bits Im throwing in the towel on trying to make these goddamn things myself. Which one of our vendors can I send a template/measurements to to get something cut out?

Kert does plasma. I wanna say kellyjohn sounded like he had one.:dunno:

I figured I could call Kurt. I gotta get a half decent price. Im already into these caliper brackets for $100 and Im ****ing no where... :doah:

All day long everyday and usually Sundays too.:thumb:

Man it took no time at all to get using CAD again... Have not done it in 5 years since high school. 45mins later I had these whipped up :D

Thanks for remembering Dueling!!

I think Kurt should be your 1st direction to go on those parts.:waytogo:

He looks after members very well and you avoid the additional fees for the border.:eek1:

If he has too much on his plate already, PM me and we can discuss further.

Wow, spending $40 on a tool and you could have gotten a pair of brackets off an eBay seller for $50.

Or maybe you're just feeling like making them yourself?

I'm not "that guy" that insists on making everylast thing himself but you can't just buy those brackets. I need them 1/2in thick to properly space my bearings and I don't think anyone even makes a bracket for that exact of bearing pocket.

Why not chain drill, hacksaw and then file. Might take a little while longer, but it's doable...

It doesn't have to be perfect does it?? Mark the holes and cut some play and drill it.

Because its not 1865 and my time is more valuable than drilling 50 holes a piece and filing **** for hours when I could have them made perfect for $15 a piece.

You can't stack two 1/4" ones?

You cant buy that piece anywhere. Its not like they make 1/4in ones and I need a 1/2in one. Since Im having it made I might as well get it made in the right thickness.

Ah, c'mon, I know these rigs are old, but they ain't steam powered :haha:

Im good. I really appreciate the offer but Ive been in touch with Kert at DIY4x and hes gonna hook me up as usual.

So what is this piece going on?

Its caliper brackets and bearing pocket spacers for my Ford 8.8 that I converted to 6 lug w/ half ton front brakes for the Trooper.

Normally everyone that uses the c-clip eliminated setup (mostly jeep guys) retain the factory rear discs and drum in hat parking brake. I ditched that stuff because I'll be running a toy tcase with ebrake on the output flange and figured the 1/2 ton chevy front brakes would be an upgrade over the tiny explorer stuff.

Now since I bought a kit that was design to use the factory brakes the shafts and bearing pockets were design to work with the specific thickness of the factory backplates. Therefore I need to match that with my custom caliper brackets.

Got my bracket in from DIY4x today. Look great. Awesome fast turn around for custom stuff. Bolted them on the axle real quick and everything looks perfect.

The smaller bowtie piece I hadnt said anything about but decided to have cut while I was placing an order. Since Im using doubled up axle retainers I wanted to make a spacer so the seal/bearing pressure was nice an even with all the side loading from offroading.

My caliper bracket will be built off of a piece of plate that I will bridge the two pieces together on the flat section.
