Need Diesel Engine Help

Around here most towns go to surplus equipment auctions to buy things like fire trucks, ambulances, and other things like heavy equipment..they also go to government auctions ,many towns here bought used military trucks and ambulances at a much lower price than new or fixing up their old high mileage ones..

Often another town in the state has such vehicles available, some trade or upgrade them every few years, even if nothing is wrong with them,to ward off the possibility of expensive repairs in the future ..
I have seen some fire trucks that costed well over 100,000 bucks sold at auctions for under 20,000 bucks that were still in good condition..

It may be cheaper to look for a used ambulance..

I'm finishing up on a LB7 in our 04 c4500 Kodiak. Having been down this path before regardless of the generation of Duramax stay the hell away from Jasper. I won't go into my tale of woe over them with our wrecker, just say no.

I will support the idea of double checking the injectors for a fuel knock. I've had one in here hammering like a beast and further diagnosis proved the noise was injector specific and between watching the balance rates and a balance test we pinpointed the offending unit. Swapped in a new one and didn't see it come back.

Thought we had another one a few months ago. Couldn't isolate so we yanked the engine to teardown. Found the crank snapped at a counterweight. Crazy thing was it still ran.
