Need feedback, two days to pull the trigger...

Buy the blazer for as little as you can.........and instead of getting a loan to have the body work done, invest in a welder and other tools and either learn to do the work yourself, or get help from here and friends around home. Do you have any interest in doing your own work? If so, there are plenty of (artists) slaves here that would be willing to help

A lot of owners like learning and working on their own trucks....some don't want to or care to so they pay someone else to do the work. And it doesn't matter who does the work as long as you're happy with the results.

You've been given tons of advice and now you need to decide if this is the truck for you or should you keep searching?

At some point, I'd absolutely love to learn to weld and do all this myself. Im a very hands on guy, and can usually build just about anything crafty. Just never had a metal working class or the chance to apprentice to someone. But my issue is that I recently became a volunteer firefighter, have EMT school coming up at the end of this month, and then if all goes according to plan, fireschool the following year.

All that in mind, the word of the brotherhood is spot on, i wont have the time to do even the easy work this rig needs, I need to wait till I find something actually ready to drive. and worry about starting my own CK5 style complete tear down and rebuild project later when I have my 4 day weekends on a firefighter shift and a solid paycheck to find a trouble project like this one to save.

Rust sucks balls man. I bought mine in Cali for 2 grand and drove it for years before I fixed the rust issues I got out here in pa. I ended up with 500 bucks just in repair panels and did the work repairing it myself. It's not too hard to do the repairs. Just takes time and patience. If its what you want buy it and fix it as needed. Eventually that rust will catch up to ya though and something will need to be done.

why dont you just get a full vert top and windshield frame and stick it on a easier to find not rusty newer blazer?

honestly I love the interior of the first gens as much as the overall style, and fact that its a full vert. The only reason I really got stuck on this 2nd gen was the fact that it was close, cheap, and looked like a solid contender for a daily driver.

also, Id still have to pay someone to do the work to cut and graft the sheetmetal to do the full vert swap on a newer blazer. which brings me back to square one vs the 74 I just passed on.

funny thing, as soon as I passed on the 74 I've been hemming and hawing over, I get online and start searching again, and found a few fist gens scattered across the country that tickle my fancy, if not my pocket book. hope still burns, theres gotta be one out there, just gotta find it.

I read it just needing a motor and trans, get a hold of him and find out.

yeah, need a runner/driver. the 6.2L coming out of the Griz needs a going over, and upgrade, new seals, head studs, turbocharger, injector rebuild with new nozzles, etc. The axles need to be rebuilt and I'm still working on that disk brake swap from my "fankenaxle" thread.

Likely these will be my project while I'm truck shopping.

SO, like I said, the stuff coming out of the griz wont be immediately going into the new truck, so The new truck needs to run, and be ready to register and put on the road.

will this purchase increase your odds of seeing boobies? if so , what's the holdup ?

luckily that's not a problem

but come warm weather it will mean a dramatic increase in road trips around the small towns of the Shannendoah, drive in movies, along with camping trips and offroading with my girl. all of which she misses.
