I have a heavy-duty radiator in my K5. I cannot find the top support brackets for that radiator. The PO rigged up a solution that includes zip ties, and I obviously want to remedy that. The pull-a-part here in Lubbock doesn't have any (they cut all those brackets to get to the radiator).

LMC, Classic Trucks, etc. None have them. I've also tried Junkyard Dog. No replies, which is unusual.

I'm moving to Dallas on Thursday, so I'm looking for price plus shipping to 75149.

This is what I need (number 6 in the picture). Two of them.

Kenny can only find one bracket. When he gets a chance, he'll let me know which side he has.

So, for now, I'm still in the market for both brackets. Once he tells me which one he has, I'll update this thread.

Perhaps we need to clarify what is meant by heavy duty.

The radiator top clamps on a light duty small block and stick shift small block mount to the rear of the radiator support.

The radiator top clamps on a heavy duty small block and automatic HD small block mount to the top of the radiator support.

The 6.2 mounts are as Kenny imaged.

The mid-80's 454 typically had a one piece steel top plate with insulators at each end

I was under the impression the one piece mounts were used from 1973-80 only then they went to the two piece mounts work a plastic filler in the middle from 81 up.

So does the OP have a picture of the (cut up) brackets he is trying to replace? My extra set is supposedly from a GMT400-series truck (diesel), and I got it with my replacement radiator. So they do fit the heavy radiator, but I don't know if that will fit what he has. I'm willing to check/measure/take pictures/sell if that's what he's looking for. And I can test-fit it on my own diesel radiators if that's a help.

Just lemme know what's helpful... :)

Kennyw posted exactly what I need. In the pics. I'm just going by what LMC says. For my year model, there were either regular or HD brackets. One LH and one RH, with a plastic shroud in between. I don't know dimensions or what other applications they fit. But, the pictures kennyw posted are what I need.

bronc3buster842001 PM'd me and told me he had a set. Any of you dealt with him before?

KenneyW's images show:

Bolted down and installed, albeit wrong side, Heavy Duty radiator clamp, non Diesel non Big Block.

Shown next to it on top is a Diesel or 454 radiator clamp but not a mid-80's 454 top clamp.

I expect that a diesel or 454 clamp would be termed by a forum as for a heavy duty radiator but for an OEM, would be refered to as a diesel or 454 clamp and not heavy duty as that is by default based on engine size and perhaps no heavy duty option existed in those applications.

I'll look up all the part numbers in the GM parts book shortly.

It may be easier to define your parts need if you specify tank size on your radiator, radiator part number or year, make, model, engine size.

In the LMC illustration from first post...

#3 is a 454 top clamp, large one piece steel, 81-88
#5 is a 250 6 cylinder and light duty small block, bolts to rear face of radiator support for short tank radiator. left hand and right hand brackets
#6 is for heavy duty cooling small block and A/C, bolts to top of radiator support for tall tank radiator. left hand and right hand brackets.

At a glance, I did not notice anything diesel radiator related on entire page.

I have leads to trucks being parted. Will forward contact info regarding clamps should they have them.

LMC doesn't sell any HD brackets. Whether you define that as one for a 454 or diesel or not, LMC doesn't sell it. If you look at the support pads (4), you'll see that 32-0972 is for a HD radiator (shown with the letter "D"), as defined by LMC. They only list it for the 454. However, They do not sell the brackets for the HD radiators.

As far as I know, there are only three sizes. One size bracket is used for the 305 and 350, one is used for the 250, and the HD bracket is used on the 454.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm just going by what LMC sells and doesn't sell.

I have a set of these.
Nit sure how good the rubber part is.
If you can buy the rubber part I will sell you the brackets
