I just want a cheap low watt replacement tape deck for the 77. Just like something you would have bought in the 80s. Trouble is, trying to find one online is all but impossible. So maybe some of you guys have better search-fu than i do and can point me in the direction of a $30 or less knob style tape deck.

This is the only thing i found. Which i guess will work. Just wanted at least like 3 options to choose from. Really hoped for a pioneer unit.

That is pert near exactly what i want. $60 seems steep when i can get a cd player for that much... But i may have to consider it for being just what im after.

Yeah, the old shaft style radios are getting harder to find, especially with just a tape deck. Even the low-buck replacements at JCW or the local O'Reillys are DINs or slide-outs with CD players.

RetroSound and Custom Autosound make some neat looking, factory style units, but they're not what I would call cheap.

I would get one and and a ipod input to the antenna input.

Like an original radio right? I remember seeing that done somewhere. You don't just happen to remember seeing it somewhere and remember where do you? Cause to me that would be worth running an original style radio.

Threw a bunch of them away this weekend. At least ten. At the crusher. Even a bunch of 8-track radios. Could not give them away.

yes they are done by custom autosound. They are 169 buck, factory radio with the ipod interface and usb dock too

They make some neat stuff too.

Dual makes a $50 tape deck with two knobs and an Aux input on the front. I have put them in a couple old Chevys.

I've got a shaft-style Jensen I've been meaning to swap out of the RV. AM/FM Casette with digital tuning - total 80's machine - and it works fine.

Yeah, maybe I need incentive to move on that project - I haven't decided what I want to put in it's place. I suppose I should try playing a tape first.

Ok let me know. If I can get it here somewhat quickly and for less then $25 I'll probably take it. If you were offering it?

I still have a AM/FM/CB factory Delco radio (no tape player in it though) from a 78 Caddy I had in one of my 70's Pickups, still works OK,but one channel died ,so it plays in Mono, not stereo ...probably needs one output transistor to make both channels work again.................................................................................................I have a bunch of aftermarket take-outs I bought over the years that have the dual shafts, like a Blapunk "Denver" Am/FM cassette, and various others like Audiovox ,Jensen,etc...-have been sitting for years in my garage along with multiple old school graphic equalizer/amps and other 70's and 80's vintage "stuff"...not sure how good they work now, they were pulled in favor of later CD style units..dont know why I even keep them anymore, probably couldn't get 5 bucks for any of them at the flea market/swap meets!...................................................................................................I may even have a AM/FM 8 track in my collection still,I took a whole store display "wall" of radios one of the parts stores I worked at that they were going to chuck into a dumpster, and I sold almost all of the 8-tracks in a matter of hours at a swap meet many years ago!--I wouldn't have junked those,a lot of classic car owners now want to get one to keep their cars factory looking...got quite a few old CB's too, some 23 and 40 channel and some smaller ones with only 3 channels that still worked too....
