I got roped into helping a buddy replace the oil pan on his sub. The threads on the oil pan plug got stripped. We already tried a self tapping plug, but that didn't work. We are now stuck replacing the oil pan. The stupid Chiltons book says to remove two drive shaft nuts and 1 upper nut and bolt on the right side and then turn the steering wheel to the left. What the h*ll?? Anybody have any suggestions as to how to get the pan out easily? I am contemplating using an engine hoist to jack up the eng and remove the motor mount bolts. That migh tbe easier than what the book says to do. Any ideas?

I'd use the hoist idea, may have to remove the distributor to get a good angle on it.

"R/R" you an auto tech?
