Need help quick Edit: Fixed thanks to CK5 and Chaddy

You know, there is one other thing that you could buy but it won't do you any good tonight obviously. There is what's called a U-joint girdle. instead of the straps and bolts this is a 7075-T6 aluminum cap that bolts to the Yoke and keeps the U-joint centered.

Here is a pic for reference.

I will look at those as well, but probably when I go to the 14.

It is fixed guys. Chaddy and I were able to swap a couple of caps on, bolt them down with the straps, and he placed a small bead to hold that cap until I can get it replaced tomorrow.

CK5 to the rescue is the truth. And I can add to the number of members that I have now met.:waytogo:

Edit: The only downside is he wouldn't let me give him a bit of cash for the trouble and help. Truly an asset to CK5. Thanks Chad!

Yeah, but that sure is a pretty Dodge you pulled up in. Nice way to tow the truck to the trails.

First ever trail fix on the Blazer, unfortunately while I wasn't on a trail.:doah:

Your idea for the bottle would have worked well. I have plenty of empty mountain dew bottles around, and I always carry duct tape. That stuff is more useful than about anything else I carry with me.

Geeze, no respect for the tack welding the cap idea.

If you're gonna be passing the love around i'll take some too. :D

Sorry, wasn't paying real close attention last night. And thank you for the advice, you know I always appreciate it.

As for the temp fix, I couldn't get a pinion today, so it is still running this way. No vibration up to 70, and the weld is holding the cap in. I have a pinion to pick up tomorrow and get installed.

Glad you got fixed up, Jason.. I told my wife about this, and she said, "damn, now that's a brotherhood"..

Do you have a part number or a source for these for our trucks?

I run them on my camaro, as they're available for GM 12 bolts, but I tried getting a set from summit for my 1992 blazer ( stock, full size), and the application isn't listed in their catalog.

I fragged a driveshaft & pinion yoke ( at 70 MPH) on my 87 some years back, after losing the U joint...since then, I figured the girdle would be a heck of a thing to have for insurance.

I did not look for an application so they might not even be available for our trucks. I do know that IIRC HAD has some super duty ones though but again, not sure what axle they fit.

The pic i posted is from Moroso.

gotcha..thanks for the response.. I might shoot them an email.

Moroso is all summit carries, and they didn't have crap for us..too bad, 'cause I think they'd be a popular item.

I have a friend who could make them. Maybe i'll have to have him look into it.

Yet another CK5 success story. Good job, lads!!!! :woot:

Noobs, take note: this is what separates CK5 from all those "other" sites......
Yep, no argument here, and I am still running the trail fix. We had some nasty weather move in Friday and prevented me from getting the new pinion. I am hoping to have it done today, after I get some sleep.

As to the girdles, Summit carries them, but I didn't see an application for the 10b, I did look at them for the 12b, and may order the set for the 14b before I swap it in. I just can't see spending the money on the 12b when I am so close to swapping it out.

Cool but expensive, he just needs to stop playing with his Astro vans :D
and get the axle in :D
I need to get some tires, and get the balljoints done on the 10b. Then I still need to get some spring plates, shocks, and brake lines. It will be done, but the Astro is the current priority.:haha:
