hey guys i am looking for a 203 for my 72 to mate it to my 205 and i came across a 83 k30 with the th400 mated up to a tcase but he does not know which case, can anyone help me, i would hate to drive 2 hours for the wrong case. i am looking for the 203

now he thinks it might be a k20, i have a pick but i dont know how to download it

thanks I just sent a pick to another fellow member who said that he will identifie for me.

rare...

I've seen two late 70's GM K30 4x4's, that had 400 small blocks, and TH400/NP203 drivetrains factory, both were the old style Holmes Wreckers ,with short wheelbases...have seen a lot more 3/4 tons with TH400/NP203 setups than one ton dually's though, but they evidently did exist..

Around here, a TH400/NP205 setup is real rare in the older trucks..most of them with TH400's had the NP203 in the 70's(even though I guess a NP205 WAS available then?)..,or the NP208's in the 80's ...

I'd guess about 95% of all the usual 1/2 ton 4x4 pickups and K5's in the junkyards, and most of the 3/4 tons I've seen here had TH350's with NP205's,or NP203's..pretty rare to see any TH400/NP205 setups here, only a few dually dump trucks I saw with SM465's manual tranny's had NP205's, and I look at a LOT of junked trucks in my area!...so if and when you DO find one for a TH400,they want a kings ransom for it usually..:( They seem to have sold more TH400/NP205 drivetrains out west and down south, than here in my area...

I had just never seen that configuration before. Down in TX I can find 465/205 or TH350/203 all day long. Some of the others are a little harder to come by and cost their weight in gold but I had just never seen TH400/203 and hadn't even considered finding that combo in a 1 ton. I am surprised that the General put that T-case in any 1 ton application regardless of tranny configuration. Thanks for the info
