Need help with rear window motor

I got my K5 back from being repainted and the rear window motor will only respond to pushing the button up from the inside. Pushing it down does nothing and the key doesn't do anything at all at the tailgate. I have had the problem before with the motor only going up because of the safety thing... I have never fixed this on my own and need the cargo room for work. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Also if anyone knows how I can post pictures I will email them to someone. I had the truck painted 2003 Mercury Marauder silver and it looks great!

Open the access panel by removing the 16 screws. Go to the safety switch, usually mounted on the drivers side latch, and disconnect. Plug a piece of wire between the two posts and it will bypass the safety switch. Just remember to keep your window down when opening/closing the gate.

Also check the power going to the motor, but you did say it would go up so it most likely has power. There are three wires that go to the gate, they are all positive, the orange(I believe) is constant power, and the other two provide the directional power, one for up and one for down. If the motor is trying to go up from the switch, it may just be the safety switch.

To post pictures the easy way, create a free Photobucket account and upload them there. Once the load up, there is a line that says IMG code, when you click that line it will say Copied. Paste that line in your post, and it will link the picture here for everyone to see. Easiest way to do it, and non-paying members will be able to see the pictures.
