Need help!!

update

little update: alright ended u changing the ecm on the 45 deg bracket and the coolant temp sensor. runs good till it starts warming up and starts surging a little sputters and dies. waiting for a guy to bring his computer so we can see whats going on. i think the timing needs to be adjusted a little but we shall see.

No mention of fuel pressure being tested, popping up through the TBI is a lean condition maybe not getting enough fuel pressure. Could be pump, filter, regulator? If he's running really lean won't that set a code for excessive knock by fooling the system?

That is a good point! With the fire to start and the way this has panned out the more obvious has only been addressed.

Setting timing properly, fuel pressure are a couple things that need to be physically checked.

After that, trying to diagnose is hard without a good data log. But if he had 5 mechanics look at this I would hope someone would have seen some data issues!

I can find things in a TunerPro data log I can not see with a scan tool.

Man this truck is taking you through the wringer eh?

You changed the coolant sensor near the thermostat, yes?

I really understand the frustration. I wish you luck! And please let us know what the problem ends up being.

alright after a long 5 year battle of chasing ghost with this truck it finally seems like i won the war. after reading nutt7's thread i changed out the coolant temp and the ecm, rechecked the timing and boom that was it. runs like a champ and you could only imagine my smile. so thanks for all the help

there is 1 small issue where it likes to get a small surge of power and throws a light and bogs down in power a little. i tryed checking it but at a stop all it does is blink consecutively and while driving all i get is a 1-1. any ideas???

thanks again
