Okay all I have a 1978 K5 400 sbc th350 auto tranny. Does anyone have a picture of how the engine to transmission rod stabilizing brackets mount up to the engine under the brackets on the motor? My rods do not seem to line up correctly from front to rear, seems like one is way outta whack.....

I just finally got some back in truck. I had to modify the driver side rod.
My truck has a bunch of different parts so I expect this.
Yours sounds fairly original.
Where did the rods and brackets come from? Original?

yes they are stock and going back in stock, I am assuming the go between the engine block and engine mount bracket with the rod facing the rear. They look like they shoud attach to the bottom of the tranny flywheel cover...is this right? The pass side seems to come back to the rear fine but the drivers side seems not to line up, now I do have a tall oil filter on that is in the way maybe that is it?

yes the brackets go between block and mount, attachment hole to rear bottom. My issue seemed the rod wanted to push on the oil pan corner, was also @1/4" short. Filter doesn't seem to a problem for me.

Passenger side.
700R4 trans behind a 350, truck was originally a SBC 400 th350 np203, but all of the support rods were missing when I got it. My stuff was ebay and members here.

Mine is a 4spd but you get the idea.

Your pan is different I am wonder if the oil pan is special for the braces. I know my pan is not original. Not sure the pan on 400 that was in the truck is either.

If you’re talking about my pan, it’s from an ‘83 K30 4spd dually. I stole it from @tarussell :D

yeap sure am If my pan had that diagonal corner I think the rod would have fit. Drain plug on the bottom ?? Maybe cause rod would be in the way ?

The worst part about was that my truck was just parked in John’s driveway at the time - I went out to get in it and leave and had no oil pressure; then found out I had no damn pan…. Don’t pull up at John’s place with cool parts on your ride - he’s wicked quick with the tools when he wants something off your truck !

Ha,ha - now days it takes both of us an hour and-a-half to watch 60 Minutes…
the speed and efficiency of days gone by stayed behind in those days and ain’t but a memory now…

We stand around B.S.’n about 70% of the time and might spend the remaining 30% actually working on a good day!

He still has my alligator clip that he stole from me.:D

@ktmoutfront I’m disappointed, I was hoping to get a good scoff with my post. :D

The clip is stuck to a magnet on my toolbox as a reminder to do better wiring work.
