Ok I am new to all this. I want to lift my 85 Blazer about 6 inches. I dont want to use the blocks and I am to poor to buy the new 6 inch springs. I found a lift on e-bay and the guy said that my factory driveshafts will work, but for some reason i just dont believe him. Everyone is telling me to use a shackle flip. Where do I get this from. I have researched and found some here but I really dont know what to get. So if anyone can give me a list of what lift to get what shackle flip to get, everything I will or may need to get. I will start shopping and can be well on my way to making this POS a decent ride. Another question I want to post pics on here to messegeso people can see what I am working with, how do i do it? Ok enogh of the stupid questions from me.

You are rushing it. Keep reading the boards and look to see what the vendors here offer.

You will be better off gaining the knowledge to make these decisions yourself than to rely on someone second guessing what you want.:waytogo:

Congrats on taking the first step and becoming a member:D

Ya I am doing that but dont know exactly what combos will do what. I founf the flip kits and see they come in 4 and 6 but will that give me a true 4 or 6 inch lift or will i need to use other stuff?

There are no 6" flips... 2 1/2" & 4". ORD has both and http://diy4x.com/main.htm has a 4"... I prefer the DIY one...

your gonna have to buy new front springs no matter what.. 6" of lift pretty much gaurantees you'll have to lengthen shafts.. 4, there's a good chance you wont have to..

for pics, just go wherever you have them hosted, or as a member start a gallery here, go to the pic, right click on it, properties, copy that... then in a message just click on the little "inset image" icon at the the top of the reply box, and paste the image properties between the
tags...

diy4x has great products.. ive ran them and want to do some bussiness with him again... first hand products there

I did not have to lengthen my shafts when I ran a 6 inch lift. that was on a short bed, on a blazer I don't doubt you might need a rear shaft. luckily for you lengthening the shaft doesn't cost much.

I have an ORD rear flip, but I did not know about DIY4X at the time. I suggest that you call and talk to lots of different vendors. Talk to others in your area that are also running lifted vehicles. get to know the people that you will end up on the trail with.

Everyone starts out wanting a big truck with big tires. The you will wheel it and realize that it doesn't need to be so high to fit big tires.

just find a junkyard driveshaft that is longer then your currrent on and have it cut down, or you can do it yourself and save some money.

Yeah i know that to be true.
I have the ord 4" shakle flip in the rear, took me bout 45min or so to install. only thing i did notice was it seemed a lil lower in the rear. bout an inch. ( i think that it could very on dif. trucks) but it could be the bds 4" springs in the rear also. I have 8" bds springs up front. i had to add a 1" spacer in the rear to level it out. im very happy with the ord kit. the bds springs ride great. im planning on getting the ord rear traction bar next.

the best advice i can give you is dont rush your project. theres nothing worse than slapping something together and then spending the next 5 years replacing all the stuff and redoing it. i would plan were you want to start at and stay focused until you have that part complete. start with motor, trans or suspension

nice po... i got a 4 inch shackle flip and 2.5 inch blocks for now, i am still using the same driveshaft for the rear, it fits really nice. check out my build thread in my sig mines a pick up with a 8 foot box, i dunno abt the k5..

Ya saw your thread awsome ride...Hope mine will turn out like that. But like i said before I can build one he** of a engine but when it comes to suspension I am stupid... So i will be asking tons of help for suspension and maybe even trading some engine parts for suspension parts.....But till money runs out (and money is just saving up as long as I am herew in Iraq) I will be building....
