Need pics - big tires with little lift

Here's some 4" suspension(shackle flip rear/tuff country front) & 1" body with some trimming of the front for clearance for the 39.5's. Did not hit firewall maxed out but currently no inner fenders at the front:D

I don't have any money right now.. I'm thinking about hacking the fenders and running my old axles and tires(38 TSLs). I don't need much up travel only 2-3inches. Can I get enough room for 38s hacking the fenders on my 1988 k5?
I'm worried about hitting the firewall..

remember, you have the skinny 38's, the 38.5x12.50 sx's. for now, who knows what the future holds.

i remembered this avatar from a guy over at ps.com

4" springs, 1" body: 42" TSL's

Did you do the 52" spring swap in the front? i keep hitting my firewall with my 42" TSL's and 8" of lift 3" body lift.

Not yet will be doing 56" frt spring swap later this week. I have the axle moved forward 1.5" by redrilling the perches. They rub the firewall as they are now.

The PO did this and didn't finish. I got a new fdoor and tossed the cut one. So to anser your question, I didn't.

A bud is going to give me two 52" leaf springs. If I ran them up front, wouldn't that give me about 4 to 4 1/2 of lift and move my axle forward 2 inches? Would I have to mess with the drive shafts by adding 4 inches of susp lift? sorry for the newbie questions.

definitly need longer front drive shaft. Also your gonna need crossover steering

The kind that places your tierod behind the axle. Such as NorthWestFab.

Thats reverse highsteer. You dont need that. regular crossover or highsteer would be ok. In fact if you dont lift it enough with reverse highsteer, your tierod will probably hit your oil pan

Doh! sorry. Yea that is if you are going total hi steer. The way I understand it on hi steer is when you move the axle forward the draglink and tierod will hit eachother when you stuff the right front tire. Remedy is reverse hi steer. Note that the stock location of the shocks will likely be in the way of the tierod so shock towers and dif shocks would be in order.

52s & x-over & hi-steer should not have any clearance problems. however, if there are, i guess i'm screwed...oh well i guess i'll upgrade to full hydro

i have heard of problems with just regular high steer and 52's... i think it needs to be reverse high steer, that way you wont have any clearance problems with the springs when the flex

how about lift with little tires? i'll probably stick my 4" lift on before i get larger tires, so i'll be rolling on 31's with 4" lift for a while. i hope i don't look too silly. :doah:
