Need roof rack help/advice please !!

My 1990 Suburban didn't come with a factory roof rack and I need to add one.
First, what brand is the best and second whats the best way to mount it ?

Con Ferr and Yakima are popular. I have a Con Ferr rack. It mounts with well nuts into the topper. I've never had a problem with leaks ot it being loose or breaking the top. Pretty easy to do.

What will you be using the rack for? I installed a Yakima on my burb, they have a bunch of options, I went with

I would like a basket style like a con ferr or maybe a std. type roof rack that I could attach a thulle style cargo carrier etc...

Con ferr appears to be out of business.
Yakima and Garvin Wilderness look good though.
Now how to mount it ??
I have rain gutters over the doors so I could mount it forward or drill and mount it to the rear.
Any thoughts ?

That's a nice looking rack Muddytazz. I was thinking about doing the same thing for my K5. If I may ask, what are your measurements for the spacing on the crossbars and how do you plan on mounting it? Or would you be interested in building one for me?

i made one like tazz's but about half the size. used it for a ladder for about a year till i felt like putting it on the burb.
