Intakes
I did the plugs first, ran better but still smoked, THEN the intakes, much better after that. Also you want to be sure the gaskets you used are made for aluminum intakes on iron heads. Alot of parts guys will just give you the ones made for the stock iron intakes, and they are too thin. The ones for the Aluminum intakes are thicker, because aluminum expands and contracts more, and you can't tighten them down as hard as an iron intake either. Alot of times what will happen is the gasket will leak from the BOTTOM, and suck oil out of the lifter valley, even though everything appears hunky-dory up top. This is also why you need the thicker gasket with an aluminum intake. Maybe put the Performer RPM it had on it back on, since you said it ran fine with it before.

I mean a gasket is a lot cheaper than new rings.
