My new rig is a 91, no engine came with it so I'm planning on using the goodwrench reman from my 83.
The block is a 90's one piece rear seal.
2 bolt mains, stock flat tappet cam, blah stock heads, edelbrock performer intake, hooker comp long tube headers.

I have the original throttle body and small cap distributor from the truck.
All the connections were unplugged when the po pulled the engine.

My questions are...
Will my engine run off the tbi how it currently is?
What do I need to change to get it to run reliably?

I know I'll either need an adapter from carb to tbi or a tbi intake.

Will the cam work okay? Will the small cap distributor work with it?

I'm not running an egr or any emissions related, can I keep everything deleted?

I know i have to add an 02 sensor, other than having to add a bung will my headers work?

Anything else I'm missing sensor wise?

Thank y'all I'm advance, I'm ready to be done with carburetors!

Electric fuel pump?

TBi adapter will be cheaper. Only concern is linkage, but I believe all that will connect ok.

It's likely it will run as-is. You may hear that some people have done similar and "it ran fine"...that is impossible to quantify if they have not, at the very minimum, run a wideband O2 on it. That doesn't speak to timing at all though, which you would see with datalogging.

i'm anal on this stuff, but I've watched it be done, I've tuned for modifications, I know the reality.

If the engine flows more than stock, it will run lean under load, and timing/fueling may be off enough to decrease performance. There is zero question that headers, cam, and intake will change engine fuel and timing requirements significantly. I've personally seen a header, "RV" cam and Edelbrock intake swap exceed the factory fuel delivery by about 20%. That more than eliminated any "margin" GM programmed into the system to account for things like reduced fuel pressure, etc.

Adjustable fuel pressure regulator is *really* not the solution, but it may be a possibility. The problem with TBI and modification is that it is very hard to tune (tuning equipment/hardware-wise) and to have a really good idea of what is going on, you need a wideband O2 and ability to datalog.

Lack of EGR SHOULD trigger a check engine light, which is not problematic except then you have no idea when another fault occurs. But I just saw the wrong EGR on a 1990 Suburban NOT trigger a check engine light, so who knows.

Pretty unlikely you will harm anything by firing it up as-is. The only *real* damage that might occur would be under acceleration and any other heavy load condition. TBI has no way of compensating for fuel delivery under heavy throttle...it relies on what it's programmed to provide under those conditions, and if it's too little, it will run lean.

TBI was a single wire o2 sensor, if you put it in the header collector it not heat up as fast as it should, being farther from the exhaust ports, a heated sensor may need to be adapted.

Get an adaepter for the intake you have, factory TBI intakes suck.

The computer will notice if the the EGR isn't functional, so have a chip burned that deletes EGR or reinstall it...

No catalytic converter won't matter.
