need some ideas/pics for widening my trailer...

Trailers are a whole different story than trucks... I've made my point though so let us know what you end up doing...

when we first got going we went about 10 miles and the trailer wouldnt go over 45 without being all ove 95...all the trailer tires i had set a 50 since thats what someone told me...we raised the air in them to 65 lb max...then the truck tires i raised to 45 insted of the 35 i had in them....on the way home i had a bogger on the drivers front and 3 samll tires on the truck with it pulled farther foward...maye a lil to far foward but none the less it pulled fine...

basically the truck needs to sit about 2 feet farther foward than it is in the pc...im thinking im gonna have to always change the rear tires and that sucks

So just raising the tire pressures helped quite a bit? What type of tires on the towing truck (size, max. inflation) as 35 psi seems really low unless they are a really light tire or really big.

Also, what is the distribution of the deck. I know that generally a 20' deck vs. 18' deck does not mean that all 2' of extra deck are in front of the wheels, it's usually distributed between front and rear of the trailer axles.

the truck has 33s on it..we had 45 psi on the ride home in them...it was all trailer we put the truck on diffrent the way home and it was smooth sailing..

I am still curious about the Suburban. Tires, lift, 3/4 or 1/2 ton? Creating a crap load of tongue weight is a band aid (and potentially dangerous) for the real problem. You only need 10-15% tongue weight, and loaded the way it is in the picture should be fine for that (unless like I said yesterday, there is a lot of weight in the back of the Blazer).

the sub is 3/4 ton...i used to run in mud boggs all over the state...this truck was my tow rig then...never had a problem pulling my 18 foot trailer...this trailer i got now is longer and heavier but thats about it...it pulls fine...im gonna get a set of 16.5 inch stock tires (mabye e rated for the rear) and see what that does

here is how it sat on the trailer when it pulled so well coming home...

Crap dude...thats really far forward...

Hope you can figure out whats up...

IMO, way more tongue weight then you need. You practically have a whole Blazer on a hitch probably rated for maybe 750 lbs. of weight (1,000 lbs. at the most, and usually only with weight distributing hitch).

i had the same problem pulling my half naked 80 gmc, still do. try better rate tires for the sub, and make sure the trailer is inflated propertly. test pull the blazer again where it originally was. and see the result. i dont blame u about sellin the trailer to get a different ones. another thing is. when u lowered ur sub did u ever install the sway bar back in?? and i know i have seen some heavy duty trucks have a rear sway bar too.(older models) not sure. just givin some ideas out.

i dont know about the tongue weight rating on the hitch but when i got a 10k trailer i put a class 5 10k hitch and got a 10k rated ball mount..

the tires om gonna try..im working on getting some wheels right now...i checked my tires and they are c rated (not good) my truck never had a rear sway bar in it...

Oh well ok in that case fock logic...

Bro think about how valuable your time is if you have to pull the tires off every time...or if you have to keep it below 55mph OR if you have to dump more time and $$$ into this one to get it to work right...

Just because you recently bought it doesn't mean its the perfect setup for you... Its a nice trailer so if it was me I'd clean it up and sell it...then buy a longer setup. Again this is just my opinion with a little logic thrown in ;) Take it for what it is...

:rolleyes: Get a new trailer? Come on... There is absolutely no reason why a Blazer cant be hauled on a 20' trailer. Id bet money the issue has to do with the tires on the Suburban.

well Jamie, you are right. after seeing the pics. you don't have enough tongue weight with the rear boggers on. the axles on your trailer are about centered. I bet empty the trailer pulls like crap over 55mph.

first, make sure you have max PSI in the trailer tires. C rated tires on the tow rig suck.

I'll trade issues with you any day though. I have too much tongue weight and have to use a weight distributing hitch. what really sucks is that my driveway is so bad that I have to pull out and go down the road to a flat area to hook the bars up.

sell the trailer, chalk it up as a lesson learned and buy a deckover.

alright avery ..im not selling my trailer...i dont really want a deckover because of the high center of gravity..i like how they work and all the fetures of them but i still like my trailer...im gonna try a few things and get it worked out...

hey easy now buddy :)

I used to think the same thing about the deck-overs but then I thought to myself what does it really matter? If you're haulin' down the freeway a little higher COG won't mean much to ya' and if you're turning then you need to slow the heck down anyways regardless of what type of trailer you have... whatever floats your boat man... let us know how the tire swap works, I had the trailer tires @ 75psi and my truck tires @ max when pulling my rig and I never had any problems so hopefully thats all it is.

im thinking more and more its the c-range tires on the burb...

DING DING DING we have a winner!

And well if that doesent work, i am going to go with Avery and Dale here, GET A NEW TRAILER. You should never ever ever do something half assed when it comes to trailering stuff. Spend the $$$ and be safe on the road and not endanger everyone and everything around you.

ok just a lil update with this i got a new tow rig about 6 months ago,99 chevy crew cab 5.7 2500..put a set of mtrs on and i have NO PROBLEM now it must have beeen the tires on the truck...

btw a 5.7 is plenty for pulling a blazer i even pulled a burb 300 miles 2 weeks ago....this truck is great for towing
