alright ive seen many threads about widening trailers and i know what im gonna do as far as that...

know my question is for my trailer to pull well and have good tongue weight i need to basically have my boggers on top of my trailer tires...

short of changing tires everytime what are some good solutions for this??i know im gonna have to loose the fenders and make some sort of solid fender to park the truck on...

I meant to talk to you this weekend about that. You can get some 3" channel and weld it to the outsides of your stack pockets to "widen" the floor about 5" on each side. Just remove the fenders and put small tires on the rear when towing. There is nothing more to do because of the between the fender width. You could make a solid platform all the way across and over the tires but I don't think that would be worth the trouble.

yeah i was thinking about the platform though just cause i hate changing them heavy tires..

Why would he have to put small tires on the rear? If you put 3" channel before and after the fenders couldn't he just straddle the fenders (either have drive over fenders or removable fenders) but either way just drive it up there and the front of his truck's tires would sit in front of the trailer's fenders and the rear tires on his truck would be behind the trailer's fenders...both sitting on the widened sections? Hope that made sense...

you have to change the rear tires cause if you dont the rear boggers will be on top of the trailer tires...if you leave the boggers behind the trailer tires you dont have enough tongue weight resulting in sway...basically loaded if i made it the way i want to the rear boggers will sit over the trailer tires on a piece of steel conecting to the angle going down the road...make sence

Yeah made sense... Sounds like its time to invest in a bigger trailer though, I used an 8'x23' while towing my K10 and I just straddled the trailer fenders w/o any tounge weight issues and it didn't sway a single bit.

What are the specs on the trailer? It just seems odd that you would need the truck that far forward to get enough tongue weight....unless maybe it was a tri-axle???

By as already mentioned, it's really hard to make the distance in between the fenders on a low deck trailer much wider because you are restricted to 102" maximum width to stay legal. On my old setup (D60, 13" wide tires, 10" wide rims w/ 4.5" BS) I was right around 86" wide in the front, and about 83" wide in the rear. The rear would squeeze between the fenders, but the front tires would be rubbing the trailer tires even if I removed the fenders.

Changing tires before and after a trailride is a huge PITA...especially after a muddy trailride and you get back to the trailer late at night.

my trailer is a 20 thats why..its also a 10k..its a beast just not wide enough...mine is 82 inches inbetween the fenders...my buddy raised his but told me it was a ton of work...i prolly should have bought a deckover when i got mine but hinesight is always 20/20

here a pic is worth a million words

So does it actually tow that bad if you just pull the truck up so the rear tires are hitting the fenders? Not doubting you, just surprised

very bad...i had a 250 mile trip last weekend and i had to do 55 the whole way anything over that and i was on the brake box...

What did you do different on the way back from the way down? I am also surprised that you would have any sway issues pulling the truck like it is in the picture, unless you have a ton of weight in the back of the Blazer.

Is that a 3/4 ton Sub pulling? I am sure you have it covered, but have you checked tire pressures on the trailer and truck? Good heavy tires on the back of the Sub? I have a 16' trailer and have always pulled my Blazer on loaded basically like you have yours and have very little issues with sway.

Another option for you would be a friction anti-sway device, or load equalizing/anti-sway set up like you would use on a travel trailer.

when we first got going we went about 10 miles and the trailer wouldnt go over 45 without being all ove 95...all the trailer tires i had set a 50 since thats what someone told me...we raised the air in them to 65 lb max...then the truck tires i raised to 45 insted of the 35 i had in them....on the way home i had a bogger on the drivers front and 3 samll tires on the truck with it pulled farther foward...maye a lil to far foward but none the less it pulled fine...

basically the truck needs to sit about 2 feet farther foward than it is in the pc...im thinking im gonna have to always change the rear tires and that sucks

i also used to have a 18 foot trailer and never had theese problems..it must just be something with the 2 extra feet

Like I said earlier... looks like its time for a new trailer... sell yours and find something longer...

Oh well ok in that case fock logic...

Bro think about how valuable your time is if you have to pull the tires off every time...or if you have to keep it below 55mph OR if you have to dump more time and $$$ into this one to get it to work right...

Just because you recently bought it doesn't mean its the perfect setup for you... Its a nice trailer so if it was me I'd clean it up and sell it...then buy a longer setup. Again this is just my opinion with a little logic thrown in ;) Take it for what it is...
