Need some tips on Competition Mud Boggin *RESULTS*

Re: Need some tips on Competition Mud Boggin

Ill be there again to night Scott, anyway to met up and say hey? Call me 8042410674....

**UPDATE**

Ok, for the most part it wen't.. ok. The first night I went all of 26', the second night I went 16'. This pit was very very gooey. My truck did not have enough engine to spin the meats very fast. I did end up placing 9th out of 17 trucks in my class so I'm pleased with that, although I was one spot away from winning some cash /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

There were only a couple guys to make it the whole 115' and they were running some wicked rigs /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

To give you an idea two of my club members were running CUCV's with 44" TSL's up front, 44" Boggers out back and basically stock 454's. One made it 46 ft and one made it 35 ft. Like I said it was gooey. Just thought I'd share the info on my first Mud Bog, next year should turn out better!

BTW.. you would not beleive how many people were running 38 x 11.50" boggers, and those things were tearing up the track /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

AIR PRESSURE

Do not put 10 psi in your tires unless you got beadlocks. You will spin your rims and take in mud and then you will have beadleaks or even unseat one.

I disagree here. I run 8-10 psi everywhere. Except the sand, then I go lower.

Its all about the rim width and rim diameter. To simply say dont run 10psi without beadlocks is not right.

At the local track here 44's never seem to do well. most of the time the guys don't run anything bigger than 39.5 boggers. The key is to match your tire size to your motor for maximum tire speed. I don't care what anyone claims a stock 454 with 44" boggers really won't do that well compared to someone with smaller tires and a whole lot of power to spin the hell out of them.

Come on! The bog I go to the guys with 700+ horse power with 44 Boggers rule the pits. 38.5s are only good when they can get to the bottom. Otherwise you just sink and its all over.

I will put my money on a 510 pushing 800 hp with 44s over most any.

Are we talking bogs here or drags people?

This was the case at my bog, with the exception of the very first truck to go, the only ones that made it were sporting very heavily modified big blocks and 44" boggers.

Now about the stock 454 and 44" tires, the guy who ran them the second night and got a 47 foot run, ran 39.5" TSL's the first night and only went 12 feet, this was with the 454. The 44" deffinitely made a difference.

Well last night was pathetic...

It is very very sloppy virginia clay. I went all of 22 ft. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I was number 12 to go and they make us start with our front end in the pit!?! When my front end went in it completly sunk. We had guys with 44" boggers only going around 50 feet. With the exception of the first 3 to run (a stock blazer on 33" AT's went 85 feet because he was the first and only sank around 6" in the mud) only the extremely modified trucks made it through. I'm talking about the guys with cupped 44" boggers, NOS and one heck of an engine.

It wasn't really a fair chance for the rest of us. The part that really pissed me off though, is we prepaid and they said it would be $30 to register. So we pay the $60 for two nights, when we got there they said we needed to pay another $40 for a pit pass. COME ON /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif My whole club is calling and complaining about that one. They never mentioned a pit pass when we prepaid, and it deffinitely is not worth $50 to make one pass at a giant whole which none of us had a chance at.

But I already paid it so I'll go back tonight. Will try the 4 Hi because 4 Lo didn't do jack for me.

[/ QUOTE ]Man they really take you for some cash. Around here in Missouri the local bogs I go to are $10.00 Pit pass $20.00 per class race, typically we start out in the pit with our front whells in up to the hubs, the race is timed and measured, with %100 payout of the class entries which typically are about 35-40 trucks.
