need some tranny questions answered

I have an 89 2wd burb w/ 6.2 and th400. I really want a th 700. I have located one and now need some help as I do not know anything really about trannies.

1st off, will the th700 be the same length as the th400?
2nd is the th400 I have now a mech speedo or what? What year did they start going with the elec speedo setup anyway?

GM made a lot of changes through out the 80s to the 700. Find out what year it is and make sure its at least an 87 or newer tranny. Also be sure to verify that it is a true "K" 4x4 tranny. Good luck.

I found a nice 700 from one of our members and is is the newer case. also I have a 2wd burb... I do not need a 4x4 tranny I am really needing to know about mech/elec speedos and the lengths if they are the same or not

Also, make sure to start looking for the TH700 cable linkage for your IP.
