ok I searched. so lets get that out there first and I wasn't going to reply to a thread from 2001 and 2003 LOL. I only revive my own old threads!!!!

so anyway I have an 82 cab with 86 front clip on my 78.. lol like that?

anyway my current setup is just 2 lil pissers that squirt up between the cowl vents and they don't do much when you hit the mud. Wondering if squirters on arm would be better or if there is some better car/truck ones that mount even to the hood that would be a good choice?

looking for ideas...
thx

I really liked the hood mounted squirter on my 85 s-10. It only had one, but spread the fluid across the whole windshield really well. Nice fan pattern.

Also, if you want arm mounted units, get some from a big rig of some sort. Usually 4 discharge ports per nozzle, and the ports are adjustable to a point.

Either way, add a second reservoir and second pump, volume is your friend.

The later 81+ trucks had arm mounted squirters but I'm not sure exactly when it started.

I always wanted to get some hood mounted squirters for a Toyota, depending on the application they can have straight or 90° hose nipples on them and the tiny openings can be aimed with a pick or similar.

Somewhere there is a recent thread where someone found a bigger external pump to use. I'll search...

one of these hooked to a valve with a switch you can throw from inside the cab

@Hoss7979 did the pump mod I'm thinking about. It's not posted here though, just on the unofficial CK5 FB page.

The Facebook page is "That K5 Site", hoss7979's name is Kurt (don't want to post full name here without his ok). Join and search that page for name and it'll pop up.

Add some lines and pressure washer tips.

This is more of the what I'm wanting info on.. right now I have 2 straw looking tips that poke up through the cowl (stock) and they are pinched in the middle so they look like a W or sideways 8 but not totally closed.. and they just don't do it

I may just go to the junkyard and look under the hoods for a large tank. I know some of the newer trucks like my 2013 sierra took more than 1 gallon.

14 Gallon. I had it and the pump set up in the bed. I ran 1/2" air brake tubing up to a T on the engine side fire wall, Then I necked it down to 1/4" tube to nozzles pointed at the windshield.
Worked pretty well.....Even with the big old boggers turds.:D

Now if there was a wiper motor upgrade to go hand in hand with this.

my 78 has a 1991 fullsize jimmy steering column so I got the delayed wiper on column and squirters as well... I agree.. on low these puppies are SLOW and especially if ran dry till water hits them and on high a bit better.

now I did this a long time ago and don't recall if I had to switch in the '91 wiper motor.....

years ago i installed a 88-94 style washer fluid tank/pump unit in place of the tiny one our trucks got .

had to drill 2 new holes and that was basically it for almost 3x the capacity .
