need washer squirter ideas for truck that sees mud

my 78 has a 1991 fullsize jimmy steering column so I got the delayed wiper on column and squirters as well... I agree.. on low these puppies are SLOW and especially if ran dry till water hits them and on high a bit better.

now I did this a long time ago and don't recall if I had to switch in the '91 wiper motor.....

My Blazer is a 91 so I've got the fancy switches and in tank pump but even if I get a gallon of water to the windshield the wipers themselves are weak (they perform the same as my old 80 so I doubt it's a worn motor).

That said, my old 87 S10 had pretty good wipers. Maybe I'll explore that at some point but it'll be later, need to get it driveable / wheelable first.

Same here... wonder if there is a way to make them better. Are they tired? Relay to get full voltage to them if not now?

@Hoss7979 did the pump mod I'm thinking about. It's not posted here though, just on the unofficial CK5 FB page.

The Facebook page is "That K5 Site", hoss7979's name is Kurt (don't want to post full name here without his ok). Join and search that page for name and it'll pop up.
Yep I have it posted on a few FB pages, not on here though. Can't post pics on here anymore.....but ya I used 3 1.5 gallon reservoirs and a pump from a rv to do it. I didn't have a lot of space to just put a big tank in the back due to my fuel cell & nitrous bottle.

I love having this for reference. I got really tired of the diaphragm style pump barely able to get any fluid on the windshield and while moving it was a futile effort, so I just ditched my crappy on motor diaphragm pump for a universal style standalone mounted, moved the two wires down to it and replumbed.

Works one hell of alot better, night and day. At first squirt I had fluid going clear over the roof and landing behind the truck. :rotfl::saweet:

I used this ACI Universal pump kit 199500 $17 at Advance Auto and my own wiring and tube I bought from McMaster a long time ago, what they supply is absolute garbage, tube is brittle and will crack in cold and is very short, and scotch taps :eek1:...need I say more.., but .... the pump is nice, made in the USA.

I lifted this from a thread further down the page. Seems like @73k5blazer has a cheap solution. Still got to figure out a reservoir though.

yeah I saw that... I was so ready to do this... but now gotta get my rotors replaced before I can consider it but I do like that idea better...

I made my reservoir out of PVC pipe. It's 3" and sits slightly angled on top of the fender well, necks down to 2" and turns up and that vertical is mounted on the lower firewall with a screw cap on the top of it. Drilled a hole in the bottom, threaded it , stuck a barbed fitting in there and drilled some very small holes in the screw cap top so it doesn't get suction locked. It's not the cleanest looking item under the hood (especially since I used a j-support to hold up the 3" portion haha), but I was very limited on space due to my forward hinged front clip. The beauty of pvc is you can use sizes and fittings to suit your exact space you have. I actually bought 15 or so different reservoirs from junkyards trying to make one fit somewhere wiithout luck. The ones that mounted on fenderwells were very specific to that vehicles fenderwell and didn't fit the K5', and most wall (side) mount and I just didn't have but 2" wide of space on my firewall.
